Jim James is at the Newport Folk Festival.   Is he gonna do some sort of 2 shows in 2 states in 1 day thing?   How far away is Newport from Wantagh, NY?   I don't understand.

I'm assuming roll call will be in on the 24th presale right?

NOBLESVILLE!?  I hope they announce what dates each band will be closing on, unless it is Dylan closing every date.  I'd drive to Cinci or Columbus instead of Noblesville if that meant MMJ was closing that night.

It is weird that IN gets a date and KY doesn't.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm gonna try for the two Florida shows if I can, and then Hoboken, and Camden, and maybe another. Really depends on how the shows will play out as far as sets go.

long island to rhode island is a few hours by bus at least... that is a very good question. i wanna make the hoboken show but it is definitely a no go if mmj isn't playing.
6/3/06, 10/22/10, 6/7/11 12/14, 7/28/12 8/17 12/27 12/28, 7/26/13 10/12, 7/31/15 11/27, 4/29/16

I really wish Richard Thompson stayed away from the dates close to me.  I don't need another band on top of everything else to shorten my MMJ set list!

If doors open at 4pm and assuming the show ends at 12am, I speculate the following:

Richard Thompson - 4:30pm - 5:30pm
My Morning Jacket - 6pm - 8pm
Wilco - 8:30pm - 10:30pm
Dylan 11pm - 12am?

No way we get 2 hour sets by Wilco and MMJ.  I'm guessing 90 minutes tops for each.

I think Hoboken is more of a go for MMJ. Jones Beach on the 27th is the one I too have questions about.

It does appear Jim has got himself double booked!  Something's gotta give.  I'm not thrilled with seeing 3+ bands over a 6 hour period in reserved seating at a McAmphitheater.  That, and I might be moving to Iowa- a bit of a game changer...
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Agreed, and no way Dylan only gets an hour to close.

I think the only way MMJ or Wilco get longer than 90 minutes each is if there is indeed a rotating closer for these shows. I'm not really inclined to think that will be the case though. I hope I'm wrong but my thinking is Dylan closes all the shows.

the hoboken pier is huge. this pic is from the mumford and sons show there last year:

Fully

Maybe he's going to play early in one place and fly in to play late at the other. It can be done.

Fully

Also, Nashville and Memphis and maybe Atlanta! Yay for the south!!

nuggets

all over the mansfield show. not a fan of the venue, but oh well. just waiting on cost.

love the lineup and it's a perfect excuse to see dylan again.  haven't seen him since foxboro 87 w/ the gd. probably wouldn't pay to see him otherwise. love his music, but prefer hearing others play it. still, he's an american institution and musical hero to most of my musical heroes, so.............
Oh shit, run!

This. I live in Seaford, NY, which is one town over from Wantagh, NY, it's a 4 hour drive to Newport.

To go Hoboken > Newport > Wantagh is like, kinda crazy. So that means a super early set at Newport if MMJ is going on first @ Jones.
I NEEDED IT MOST WHENEVER tbh

Totally agree Fiddle. Then throw in Camden, N.J. the next night after a double on Saturday?????  Give me some of what that man is taking!

Iowa, where there are more pigs than people! I went to school at Drake (Des Moines) so Iowa is my old stomping grounds! Where are you thinking of moving to in Iowa?
Mona Lisa must'a had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.

Okay so something more like this?

Doors at 4

Richard Thompson - 4:30 to 5:15
My Morning Jacket - 5:45 to 7:15
Wilco - 7:45 to 9:15
Dylan - 9:45 to 11:30

Not sure how else they would do it.  I don't see Dylan going longer than MMJ or Wilco, but I think the night would end around 11:30.

Well if MMJ and Wilco are playing literally 5 minutes from where I live, I may be out for Newport. Shit what do I do?

Wait for more info tomorrow at noon?

Tough decision, but I'd probably choose MMJ and Wilco.
