Bigger dick? Well I can assure you that I...

No I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone, I was just stating where I stand.  I'm not proud of my freshman year of college, so no I am not bragging by any means.  I'm just glad I've turned things round.  And I didn't think you were being shitty with me Ewind, I was just trying to explain why working 40 hours in my situation isn't my best choice.  But enough with that, this thread is about AmericanaramA.

I really didn't realize speculating about things that are completely and utterly unknown was an awful thing to do here.  Speculating is what I do with the shit that I love, and I love this shit.  I love MMJ.

I'll dodge this thread from here on out if it'll make Fully happy.
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

Crayton09

Speculate all you want EC, most people on here just complain or talk shit about Band of Horses so keep it coming!

That, and I might be moving to Iowa

Yeah, a complicating factor amongst all this speculation, eh?  Michele got an offer and looks likely we'll have a big change ahead that makes set times and venue sizes less important. I have, however, caught myself wondering how this move might affect my summer concert plans, so my priorities remain a tad twisted. I'm ready for the a adventure... And what better place to move to if you're a MMJ fan than the very city where Jim had his life-altering fall from stage!  Isn't Iowa City owed a show?
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

so the last pieces of the puzzle are the prices which we already know are going to be expensive so will leave it at that (especially for us students) and the more important set times/starts.

I believe each wilco and MMJ will get 1.5 hour sets with the 4th artist at 430 or 5 getting 45 min maybe 30 min.

bartel

unlucky or lucky which ever way you look at it for wilco fans in the philly/south jersey area.. last year wilco played a 1.5 set at camden at the xpn festival... this year they are again playing a non headliner show.

The Toronto show will not go past 11pm due to a well-enforced noise by-law. A couple of acts have gone past the deadline in the past, but had to pay a fine. Nonetheless, it's a good venue and I expect the concert will kick off around 8pm.

rats

Not to extend the arguing in this thread, but im a little put off by the set time speculation. id be concerned if they were sharing the stage with say, mumford and sons and band of horses for example. but this is Dylan and wilco we're talking about. A legendary bill of artists that will be unmatched by any other tour this summer. they could get an hour each as far as im concerned, and its still 3 hours of bliss. i for one will have no second thoughts about dropping money for this tour. can't wait.

While doors are listed as 4, the show time for the St. Paul date on Wilco's site says 5:30, which would mean possibly only an hour for MMJ and Wilco sadly :(

My guess:

5:30-6 Richard Thompson
6:30-7:30 MMJ
8-9 Wilco
9:30-11 Bob

I don't see a show at Midway going later than 11 sadly, as there are homes nearby

I'm not much on speculating, but something like this has been my thinking all along too. Possibly a bit longer especially  at venues without a curfew, but for the most part this is what I'm anticipating.

Probably gonna grab tix to one, maybe two  shows, and see how the first few play out. If they get longer sets somehow, or rotate closing(not expecting this) then I'll do more.

"Where's Jim going?"

Ok so the Newport folk Festival will throw a monkey wrench into this as I won't be able to make the NJ and Jones Beach shows that are close by.

As of now, I am planning on getting tix to the July 19th show in Bridgeport CT and the July 23rd show at Merriweather Post.  MPP is always a fun time.

Party at the 3 star Bridgeport Holiday Inn!   1/2 mile from the ballpark, and a decent rate for a room with a cancellation option. Even better rate for a prepaid room.

Hope to see you there.

Wow I haven't been to the forum in a while... this thread is crazy and cracking me up! Ohhhh the choices, Penny that is ironic that you will be Newport while the boys are mere blocks from your home. I have to say a bit of me hopes JJ takes his vitamins, thats a tough sched. Will Newport be compromised with all of these dates? It does seem like the teleporter needs to come out to make it all happen. No talk from fellow Westcoasters on our dates...  Irvine amp is not a venue I frequent but alas I will and a strong finish at Shoreline! (my bedroom is shoreline blue- tribute to Jerry!). Anyone going to the Colorado show, it's on my birthday and thoughts are a buzzing... So many shows so little time, so much to put on the dime for such a good time...

I thought I read that these shows will start at 4pm? That would help with the set times...

Ha, the closest I think you willl get is either Des Moines or Omaha. They may be owed a show, but I thought Jim James wont go back there.

Hopefully MMJ plays 80/35 (music fest in Des Moines) at some point. That would be a fun place to see them as its a small music fest.

IOWA!!! Friendly people there Yac!
Mona Lisa must'a had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.

I was pretty excited to see Denver on the list, and then immediately deflated to see Fiddler's Green as the venue...that place SUCKS. At least it did last time I was there, which was about 20 years ago. Maybe it's better now, anybody have better intel? I'll still be going, of course.

"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

It sounds like Jim is pumped/honored to open for Dylan.

I'd imagine he'll hop in his bus after the Hoboken show and wake up at Newport.  Do an afternoon set at Newport and hop in a plane and get to Jones Beach in time.

While promoters would want him hanging around and possibly playing with other people.  I can't see why there would be any fuss if he leaves after his obligation and does something he wants to do (open for Bob Dylan)

I think it will all work out.

To join the speculation of set times:

Opener: 5:30 - 6:00
MMJ: 6:15 - 7:30
Wilco 8:00 - 9:15
Dylan 9:45 - 11:00
