I'm starting to think about Bridgeport as consolation for Newport...

I hope you can make it. We've got a pretty sweet Roll Call already, and if you're added to that list, it'll be even better. Here's hoping some more get added to that RC as well.

To go along with others' comments, I think its safe to say I'm a pretty big fan of MMJ (ya think?) and a growing fan of Wilco.  I've seen Bob Dylan about a dozen times, though its been awhile.  I've got a crack at two stops on this tour and haven't bought a ticket yet!

I think this tour is flawed in its design and implementation.  Adding a 4th act dilutes the experience one can expect from the 3 co(?)-headliners.  I don't know any of these venues except Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA.  It kinda sucks.  BoA Pavillion in Boston is covered, in case of rain.  There have to be some ballparks around.

If they can't get ME to jump on this tour, Columbus won't be the only plug pulled.  That said, I'm starting to think about Bridgeport as consolation for Newport...
Well you do know about Merriweather, I dare say.  And I have pictures to prove it!

Come on down, it's only a short SW Air flight down to BWI and I'll pick you up.

Here's a really cool article and interactive map about Dylan's Neverending Tour, which he has been on for about the past 25 years.

http://www.theatlanticcities.com/arts-and-lifestyle/2013/06/808-cities-2503-shows-and-1007416-miles-staggering-geography-bob-dylans-never-ending-tour/5810/

I understand how modern-day Dylan shows don't do it for some people, but the fact that he's been pretty consistently on tour since about 1988 is pretty amazing, as is the fact that he's put out what are in my opinion some of the best records of his career (Time Out of Mind, Love and Theft, and Tempest) so late in the game.

An interesting article on ticket sales, specific to Duluth, but also a "what's wrong with concert ticket pricing and sales" piece.

No standing in doorways or blocking the hall: Dylan ticket sales going fine

While I do want additional details about this tour and the tickets are quite expensive, I remain excited for this conglomeration of musical awesomeness to hit the south.  I'll be making two dates myself.

I'm hoping this will be a one day, single stage festival setup with music starting around 4:00.

I think it will definitely be a single stage setup, so no overlap of bands playing.  Great that you are making two of them!

Just checked on Peoria again and it is at just 3285 tickets sold.  However, they now have a cheaper option of a $40 ticket (seating bowl only), while the initial $70 ticket was for GA on the field or seating bowl.   Trying desperately to sell more tickets, but why would they do this other option so late in the game if they were going to ultimately cancel?  This gives me hope.

I'm pretty sure they can get around 4,000-5,000 in the seating area alone.  I have no idea how many people can fit on the field (several thousand more), but I was told the stage would be up against the center field wall.  Maybe they move it in further with the low ticket sales?

Here are some photos:

As you can see, 3,000 people will look pretty sparse in that place.

According to an article, the capacity is probably 12,000, but when Dylan and Willie Nelson played some years ago there was a crowd of 4,400.  Still got about 1,000 tickets to go to match that.

This isn't the first time the ballpark has hosted a big-name concert. Dylan and Willie Nelson played a double bill at the stadium in August 2004, drawing 4,400 people and playing in a light, steady rain. Those tickets sold for $45.
Vonachen said a stage will be placed near the center field wall, and fans will be allowed on the field. He said they are expecting an attendance of 12,000.

wow, the best they can for background on MMJ is that they were in Elizabethtown?
I think the point was praise for being chosen by Crowe. The article acknowledges E'town is meh.

I guess the author was also a movie critic/blogger since every band gets referenced through docs or movies they appeared in or inspired.

Is it wrong that I'd only look foward to seeing MMJ on this tour??   :undecided:

Not at all good sir.  While I love some Dead, love some Wilco, and love some Dylan, I would rather none of them be on the bill.  Give me Jacket or give me death.

My friend spoke with one of the promoters and was told that the three major bands will all get "full sets" and that Dylan will play last.  Whatever "full" means, it doesn't sound like it will be short.  We'll find out soon.  Looking forward to reading set lists and reports from the Southern shows.

Hopefully wilco and MMJ get to rotate spots. MMJ is just as great and should receive equivalent attention.
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

That sounds like what I expected. I never bought into any scenario where Dylan didn't close the show.

Don't see how that's possible ("full" set) with the curfews. I still think 1hr to 1.5hrs for MMj & Wilco.
