Curious to hear some thoughts on the change of venues. Any info on ticket sales? I'm  figuring slow sales played into the switch, but that's just an educated guess based on seeing this happen over the years.

I think it means the sales are brisk for this show.  Here are the capacities of the two venues:

Ballpark at Harbor Yard - 5300
Webster Bank Arena - 10,000

Yes, but those Harbor Yard numbers are for just the reserved seats for a ball game, no? With a stage setup in centerfield, and the whole field ga,I'm sure that number would be close to double that just on the field.

The Springsteen ballpark shows I went to last summer with that type of setup had a ga pit that approached 5,000, then had reserved seated sections three deep behind it, and stopping at the infield. I'd bet there was at least 8,000-10,000 people on the field altogether. The only real difference in capacity to that would be the seats not on the field. This being a minor league park it has far fewer at 5,300 than a 40,000 seat major league park.

Thanks for the info Eric.  I stand corrected.

While normally I'd be glad to have the show indoors (no worries wrt rain or heat/humidity), I'm a bit worried in this case.  I lined up early with some friends for GA at the WBA last year for the Neil Young & Crazy Horse show.  All was fine for hours...the line was polite and things were going well.  Then a relatively short time before doors, some idiot decides that there will be an additional GA entrance across the way (not a few feet...a fair distance).  So these doors would open at the same time...ensuring a mad dash for the front of the GA area.  We complained mightily but to no avail.  Then an even shorter time before doors, they decided that even more doors would open at the same time!  So they took a bad decision and multiplied it, thereby making it even worse!  It was absurd.  Hopefully they won't be so shortsighted this time, but I thought I should relate this story from the venue here on the forum.

Wow, that's nuts Bill!  It baffles me after all these years of concerts that some venues are still clueless. I guess they never heard about the 1980 Who show in Cinncinnati.

Even though I don't think the numbers for this show will be close to what Neil drew, I really hope WBA has reviewed their ga entrance policy, and made some changes.

Did you end up  making it to the front ga, and did they wrist band those on the floor? It sounds like with that mad dash they probably didn't. With it being limited to the first 2,000 for this, perhaps they have learned from past shows. Hopefully that's the case, and they limit the amount of doors also.

so does that mean after the 2000 wristbands are given out, the rest of us with GA tickets get to choose any seat we want in the venue? how are they gonna be able to keep that straight? this sounds like a clusterfuck in the making...but I kinda wouldn't mind having a seat if it's close

It's my understanding the whole arena is ga including the seats, with the floor limited to 2,000. If you were to try and purchase tix now there are two options;  ga standing, and ga reserved. The reserved doesn't have a row or seat assigned to it.

Not sure how they're gonna keep the seating straight, but hopefully at doors it's not a total clusterfuck.

Two more sleeps til I get to see all you fine peeps, and we get our Jacket fix! Can't wait, and now find myself wondering why I never gave a thought to continuing up through NE and on to the Mass show Saturday night!

Saving it for a (hopefully) epic run of shows later in the year.   Friday will be special.

Yeah, that must be it. PC on the brain disease has kept me from taking advantage of a rare Jacket weekend of shows!     Thanks for the diagnosis.

What's the plan? Tailgate in the lot or meetup at the Barnum Publick House?

My train arrives at 12:30, going to try and check in early, then I'm up for some lunch if anyone will be around, and wants to join me.

I'm thinking Barnum Publick House might be the best option.

The AC sure will be welcome.   This heat wave isn't supposed to break til Saturday. I guess we can start out there and play it by ear.

I'll touch base with you when I hit Bridgeport.

Add me to the roll call as it looks like I'm gonna be able to pull this one off!

Damn, I'm going to the wrong show (no offense, my Mansfield pals).  Can't make it but its a helluva roll call!
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Thank you Eric for the heatwave heads up, living in dry heat is a luxury. Perhaps the heat is part of the reasoning for the switch to the indoor venue. Psyched to see you all, glad Kyle is going to make it! Sorry that Yac and many others aren't able to make it but you will be there in spirit. I feel like we should have life size cut outs of Fully and Scosby so Jim feels comfortable. They get this years MVP for frequent rail fans thus far

Val and I will see you all at Barnum Publick!

ericm

You got it.  I wish the heads up brought a cool front with it, but no such luck. Not sure the reason for the venue switch, but kinda glad it's happened. It woulda been rough hanging out all day in this heat with no cover, and then rocking the rail for hours.

Looking forward to seeing you at Barnum, and paying off my Yankee bet.

Jen & Kyle will be in the house.  This is gonna be a party.

Penny Lane & I are driving up by 11:30 and hope to see you guys at Barnum Publick as early as you folks can get there.

After that, see ya on the rail.

I'll see all you smiling Roll Callers in a few hours.
