Are current versions of Phone Went West similar to the versions they were doing on the SCS tour in 2012, with the long jam on the end?

Yes just a bit shorter of course.

Sounds like another damn fine show!

Is it Bridgeport yet? I'm really starting to jones.
"Where's Jim going?"

I swear that was the best VD ever. Can't get over it. And OTR and PWW are my two favorite "staples". Seriously that was a hell of a set. At Dawn opener god damn.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

tippitoes22

That was a great show. Fuckin A! It didn't matter that they fumbled like 4 times. They were just killing it!
Them that don't know him won't like him and them that do, sometimes won't know how to take him

APR

So glad to hear they tore it up again tonight.  They bring it every night regardless if the place is "barren" or packed to the rafters.

The one from Atlanta this spring was the best I've ever heard.  The base was so loud and deep, shook your entire body.  The At Dawn is always an awesome opener.

When Jim brought out the acoustic to open the set, I instantly thought circuital. Once I heard the first notes of At Dawn, my mouth dropped. I knew it was going to be a good night.

Via Chicago... So FUCKING happy!!!!! Art of almost, California stars, sad and lonely, heavy metal drummer, dawned on me, and I'm the man who loves you all kicked ass as well.

So glad I'm seeing them both tomorrow as well.

Anyone got a complete setlist?

Also, was Lay Low pretty standard or did they do any sort of extended improv jamming on the end like they had been on SCS?

Can anyone explain why Thompson was onstage with Wilco? I saw a picture, but there was no explanation.

They'd played a long song, unfamiliar to me. And then they played California stats together.

Tweedy said he was going to bring out his best friend when Thompson came out.

Maybe it was one of Thompsons. Was it about a motorcycle or maybe called Calvary Cross?

I don't want to steal Whippy's thunder, but he says it's a song called Sloth that Thompson did when he was with Fairport Convention. I knew he of all people would know what song it was.

Dylan's been playing almost exactly the same set each night. Shame he's not mixing it up a little bit more considering he has quite possibly the greatest catalogue of music ever. And what's up with ignoring the groups he touring with? Bob Weir's a music legend and someone Dylan's played with and covered in the past. Richard Thompson is an absolutely fantastic guitar player with a great catalogue in his own right. And of course, MMJ and Wilco are arguably the two greatest recording/touring/live bands going on a reagular basis right now. I love Bob's music, but as a person he doesn't seem like the greatest guy. Still someone who's written the music he has has a right to do whatever the hell he wants. Although, it'd really build a bit of synergy for this tour if there were great collaborations going on WITH Dylan. It might get some of the fence sitters who have been dissatisfied with Dylan live before to give him another shot.

This. Dylan is awesome and all, but I have to be honest, his set tonight really just dragged on. I doubt we will stick around after wilco tomorrow in Cincinnati. It's a shame really.

I agree with this in a way. However, I wouldn't call it "a shame". Dylan did allow Bob Weir to play two of his songs, When I Paint My Masterpiece in ATL & Most Of The Time in  Nashville (which I thoroughly loved more than Dylan's version). So I think that says something. Dylan has been around so long and he really seems like he just has to have a long term, trusting relationship with a band to feel comfortable and that's fine with me.

Bottom line is, he chose MMJ & Wilco among a few other acts to accompany him on this tour because he knows how good they are. He may warm up to them, he may not. I'm just proud that these boys get to participate.

Fucking SLOTH!!!!  It's only the Holy Grail of songs for many RT fans. He's probably played it once or twice in the last 30 years, I'd guess. I've never heard it once live after years of seeing RT.  Rife with possibilities for extended soloing on electric guitar, something RT does far too little of, IMO.  I'd have felt like the heavens opened and a beam of light streamed down upon me if I'd been at tonight's concert.  Hallelujah!

They definitely jammed out for a long time on Sloth tonight. It was very long
