I'm going to have to disagree with the whole people aren't allowed to snap pictures or record thing. Not because I have to see recorded footage or anything, but because during all of Wilco the staff kept walking around us and interrupting the show by telling people to put their phones away. It was distracting. There was at least 5 different incidents around me where the workers had to make people conceal their phones. This usually resulted in an awkward and confused response from the person with the phone. It's one thing to stop people from bringing in nice camcorders, but it's another to not allow iPhones.

So it's a bad policy because people won't adhere to it?  Maybe if people would listen to the policy info and follow it, instead of ignoring it or think  it doesn't apply to them, then security wouldn't have to be constantly enforcing it and be a distraction.

I think maybe you're frustrations are misplaced. If I'm following the policy, and the guy next to me isn't, and security is around us telling him to stop, I'm pissed at HIM, not the policy or security doing their jobs.

The no IPhone thing is part of the policy, and probably a big reason why the policy is in place, IMO. So many people have them, IT has become a huge distraction at shows. Personally I applaud Dylan for trying to do away with the nuisance they've become, but I also get that not everyone feels the same. I just hope the people next to me respect the policy, don't think they're above it, and keep their phones in their pockets.

If it wasn't for these forums I wouldn't have known about the policy to begin with. They never announced it at either show I went to. I don't blame people for not following it, they really didn't know. If they're going to enforce it, then they need to do a much better job of telling people prior to the show. So no, I don't think it was any persons fault that they had their phone out.

I read somewhere that they announced the rule before Dylan came on at a previous show, but that didn't happen at either show I went to. And if you're going to enforce it during every set, then why not announce it sooner than Dylan's set?

It's a good idea, but it's executed very poorly.

It wasn't a problem at Indy, but it definitely was last night.

Yeah trying to police 10k cell phones is an extremely stupid idea.
Y'all got any disco ball back there?

I think you guys both make great points.   There will be some growing pains for sure if this policy starts spreading to future shows, and I think it will.   People are getting tired of it.  I try not to be to hypocritical because I take advantage of a lot of youtubes to see something special I wouldn't have seen otherwise, but I would forgo this pleasure to have it banned across the board.   I would miss a lot of great, special moments but it would make the shows I DO see that much more special.   A gift of a moment in time that will only be shared by those in attendance.    Imagination is a crucial but it is dissapearing these days.

It ain't.   Usin' meeee!   (Actually it is, but I'm workin on it.)
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Last night was awesome. MMJ stole the show as expected. we were in the front row of the back half of the pavilion, right behind the soundboard. They weren't our real seats but we moved up since there was a lot of empty space.

Luckily we got there and to our seats just as MMJ took the stage. after seeing that a lot of my favorite songs had been played the night before my one true wish was for Steam Engine! That combined with seeing every member of Wilco on stage with MMJ were the thrills of my night. Crowd around us was very well behaved and I snapped a few pictures on my phone, but did see security stop a few others so I didn't try for more.

I knew Dylan was going to be bad, but after seeing that setlist he does every night I said lets just stay to hear Tangled Up in Blue...and we did, and he just butchered it! Almost unrecognizable. sad sad sad...

I couldn't agree more with Dylan. We stayed to see all along the watchtower at Indy, and it wasn't really worth it.  We dipped out after wilco last night.

I noticed the camera policy was enforced stronger during Wilco's set.

Yeah. I knew something was left off. Last night was my favorite Wilco and MMJ set of the 3 shows I saw on this tour. Can't believe it's gonna be January next time I see them.

I did have a dream last night about them announcing a bunch of 3 night runs for August.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

that sounds good, I don't have much planned for August!

Did anyone else, who went to the show, actually believe Wilco was louder starting with Art of Almost?

For those who don't know, Tweedy joked around with some people in the front who kept telling them to turn it up.  He told them that he can't just turn it up, it doesn't work like that, and that he would sing louder.  He continued to say that they'll never be as loud as MMJ.  Later, people told him to turn it up again; so, he pointed out his sound guy, and joked more about it.  Jokingly, he then said he wasn't here to entertain us or anything.  At the end of Art of Almost he asked us if it was loud enough yet.

However, my girlfriend and I think every song from AoA on was louder than usual.  I liked it.

We were up in the lawn for both Noblesville and Cinci and preferred everything about the Cinci show vs. Indy.  As for the Phone rule, I actual heard someone standing next to his buddies microphone at an earlier show from this tour who said something like: "Whats with all the antiphone police?" and his buddy said one word "Dylan"

We had absolutely no issues with camera's, phones, et al, but I am not surprised as we were getting our boogie on all night in the lawn.

AEIOU: State of the Art technology is on it's way via Alt-J and some friends who created it.  The more bands that indorse it the better methinks.  Then hopefully everyone's concerns will be taken care of:

Alt J used it at a show in England with success

So Gideon was ridiculous. They had a touch me pt 2 intro sound to it and during the end jam. The end jam was the longest I've heard it. Damn good.

Steam had Carl on sax at the end and then isn't it a pity fade. Crowd went nuts when wilco came out.

VD had Jim on sax at the end again, definitely my favorite version of the song.

The venue is fuller than last night and the crowd is better.

We looked at each other during last notes of Gideon and smiled, and nearly in unison said "I bet they open with Touch Me next show"
