MMJ at the Cap means one thing...

I will be there.

A better venue on this planet, you will not find.

Port Chester would be my pick again. It was perfect.

It would be mine as well.

High praise to say PC was perfect, but I totally agree. It was!

Better than Red Rocks?

I've never been to Red Rocks, and it's tough to compare a 10,000+ amphitheatre to a tiny theatre. I imagine for visual spectacle, RR wholeheartedly trumps the Cap. HOWEVER, what I DO know, is that the intimacy, sightlines, sound, mystique and generally awesome layout of the Capitol will not be trumped by any sub-2000 capacity venue in the nation.

No, and it's not even close.  That's not a dig on the Capitol Theater at all, it just means that RR was truly amazing.  Truly, truly, the most amazing experience that I have ever had... musically.

I personally would go with Red Rocks myself, but I totally agree that the Capitol is better than any sub-2000 capacity venue in the nation, at least that I've been to. Red Rocks just has this power to it, but so does the Capitol and these are the sites of my favorite shows. Mexico just might change my mind though, jaja!

I was at The Capitol in Port Chester earlier this year and a awesome Manager who shall remain nameless swore MMJ loves the place and would be coming for a multi-night run over new years.
Im skeptical, but hopeful. That place is one of the sweetest buildings ive been in.

You are very warm, getting warmer

hmmmm

so let's just say that I said exactly what he said, only I said "over Christmas" instead of "over new years."  Would we be 'burning up'?  Or is it the venue that needs adjusting?

Burning up people, burning up.  i think things are in flux right now due to unknown timing of studio work, getting new songs road-ready, and the fact that OBH would leave just a few weeks to transition into another run.  There is also the possibility of an album dropping in the middle of all this - all amidst the holiday season with guys wanting to see families etc.   If I were to guess, there will be a late December run in PC (2 or 3 nights?) that will allow the boys to work on arrangements for new material and get the motors running for MX.

This is all just 100% conjecture of course ;)
What's in here won't disappear

Right there with you! Cap and RR are apples/oranges as venues but last summer's RR run is some of the best shit I've seen from any band anywhere. Time machine please!

I think if MMJ is recording the new album in Louisville, KY (I don't know this) then a three day run in Louisville, KY would make sense. But I guess the same can be said for anywhere they might be recording the new album.

I loved Red Rocks! It was spiritual, beautiful and an experience like no other. It's a completely different experience than seeing them at The Cap. However, those Port Chester shows had more audience interaction and it felt like we were in their living room watching them play (if they're living room was a gorgeous old theater).  I enjoyed pretty much everything about both shows and I'm glad I went to both, but Port Chester was tops for me. Keep in mind, I'm including what we did when we weren't at the show as well. (For the record, I never saw a butt being chugged, although I did overhear one)

it really was. the small town thing made everything so easy. I loved that.

to the other peoples: RR is the best venue of all time, but comparing them are apples and oranges. I truly believe The Palace is one of the best theaters in the country.

Agreed - the Palace with a GA floor would be incredible!

Have we confirmed a show in Portchester or what?

Fully

No. We're just wishful thinking.

A PC Run in January would be nice as my vacation time will be reset then... Right now I am trying to conserve my time off just in case... but it is becoming harder and harder...

If they do a PC run again maybe I would join the GA crowd for a show!

But I couldn't beat the reserved seats I had last year in the loge, might not have had the energy but the sound was pristine and I was able to soak in the whole stage and the visuals they shot all over the venue.  Hell of a 3 night run!!!

I wonder if the hotel will let us all back after last year???
Pretty please with peanut butter pudding surprise on top??

Out of curiosity..

What row were you in in the loge?

Were people mostly sitting, or standing?  mix of both?

Were those tickets hard to get?

My girlfriend is very short, so we went for the rail every time last year but personally I like to be at least 10 rows back to get the sort of experience you are talking about. The balcony seems like the way to go but for PC i wasn't taking any chances.

The next time I go to The Cap, I definitely want to do a night in the loge just for the projections. Totally missed out on most of that experience in the pit.

I had first row the first two nights off to the left and had 2nd row for the 3rd night dead center.  I think going for single tickets helped me for those.  There was a mix of sitting and standing depending what song they were playing.  I do remember the balcony bouncing on the 3rd night, that freaked me out at first but I must have gotten used to it because I didn't notice it the rest of the night.

Red Rocks may be too cold for New Years, but I like the idea. Louisville and The Ryman would be nice too

I don't think anyone was suggesting Red Rocks for NYE, just comparing it with The Cap as their favorite venues, and MMJ shows.
