The app is updated.

For any newcomers, I definitely recommend getting the app. This festival is notorious for delaying sets if it rains. The app will update set times during the festival. It also has an interactive map and some other cool features.

Anyone else as excited as I am? 9 days!

Mr. Clements!! I just bought two tickets for Moon Taxi.  I'm getting pretty pumped to see these guys.  I noticed on one of their recent sets that they threw a One Big Holiday jam in the middle of Southern Trance.  If they played an MMJ cover at this show I'd go insane.

Anyways, is there a certain song that kills live from them?  I've made a pretty solid Spotify playlist of them.

Also, do they play anything live prior to Cabaret?  Trying to gauge which songs I should focus on, since I have such a limited time until Forecastle to prepare for the live show.

I heard from somebody that was at the show they threw in the OBH jam!

The great thing about Moon Taxi is when you see them live, not one song sounds like the album version.  They are truly a band with 2 identities.  There are certain parts of songs they only play live.  Some of my favorite songs live are, "Whiskey Sunset", "Square Circles", "Hypnus", and I really like "Change", and "Suspicious" off the newest record.

They primarily play songs off Cabaret and Mountains Beaches Cities nowadays, however, since the set they're playing is lengthier than normal there will be some fun covers and maybe some cuts off Live Ride added into the mix.  I believe the last time they were in Louisville in February they played 2 songs off Live Ride.

Think there's a good chance to hear the OBH bit at Forecastle?  If they played it in Ohio, surely they'd play it in MMJ's hometown.  Anytime would sound cool covered by them too; it has that right level of energy.

I'm also digging the Pink Floyd and Rage covers.  Blinded By the Light would be cool too.

I always hate to try and predict MT shows, but I think theres a good chance we will see all of those.

Would have loved to check that out butttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt that's smack dab in the middle of Jack's set. So hopefully I'll see Pat milling about Waterfront Park some other time over the weekend!

Anyone who is traveling from out of town for the festival, DONT USE YELLOW CAB.  There is a much better app you can use to get around downtown.  It's called Lyft.  And they have a promotion going on: first 5 rides up to $25 are free for using the service.  Very great app that uses GPS technology to show where drivers are at all times.  I have never waited over 10 mins for a ride and my friends and I use it all the time now.  Plus when you get paired up with a driver it gives you a picture of the driver, what they drive, as well as driver ratings from other users.  Very convenient for Forecastle weekend!

I know it's still a week away, but currently the weather shows 84,85 and 86 as the highs for the 3 days!! That is incredible for this time of year here! Also a 0% Chance of rain on Friday, 20% chance Saturday and 40% chance on Sunday.

Looking good!

I was just thinking about this today.  I'm glad to hear it! The heat has been very tame this summer, which I suppose is a nice thing for festivals.

Just 3 days left.  What acts are you all most excited about?  Jack White, Moon Taxi, The Districts, and Lucius (they seem surprisingly good) for me.  Not sure what to expect from Beck, but I'm sure it will be interesting.

I'm really just excited to be down at the waterfront.  I'm down here now setting up this Bourbon Lodge and I couldn't be more excited for Friday.

That's awesome man.  This festival is pretty damn great.  It has never felt over-crowded.  I love the atmosphere, and I am more than ready to be back.  More friends are coming this year too (most on Saturday), so it should be a good one!

And heh, it already sounds like you are on the waterfront!

awesome. I was down there Saturday and saw things being set up already.
Excitement is in the air!

This Forecastle forecast slightly terrifies me, mainly because I don't want to put up with any evacuation bullshit that will cause acts to be canceled/shortened. Hopefully any precipitation is just a light shower as opposed to a storm. But, gotta go with the advice of the Kast on this one, "you can plan a pretty picnic but you can't predict the weather." Hoping for the best!

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

what I heard on the news this morning that what we will probably get on Saturday will be more of a downpour for a few minutes and then gone.
So I guess we can all crowd under the bridge and hope it's in between sets!!

It'll never be as bad as this.

http://www.watershedpost.com/2014/mud-and-chaos-mar-hudson-project-music-fest

My son, and his girlfriend were at this "Mudson Fest" and from what he told me it was even worse than what's in that article. It started with off site camping only, no camping by your vehicle, and got worse from there. They had to carry all their stuff from campground to campground until they found one that had room to setup their site.

They were being told Sunday it was just being delayed, and only got word of the cancellation when the artist they were there to see posted how bummed he was the fest for Sunday was cancelled.

The mud was a nightmare, and thankfully they got out Sunday, but only after hours of trying, by helping push or tow cars in front of them stuck in mud!

I told him next year go to Forecastle, and stay at the Galt! Fuck that tent/camping bullshit!  I think he is finally getting why his old man says the closest  I ever come to camping is sleeping in a hotel room.
"Where's Jim going?"

wishing all of you a great time at Forecastle.  The MMJ show there and especially the pre-show concert under the highway  a couple of years ago were lifetime highlights.

Should be a great time for al of you.

I would be surprised if MMJ wasn't there next year.

As of this morning the forecast showed the high for the 3 days at 83, 85 and 87.
Looks like our chance for rain is most likely on Saturday. Hopefully it doesn't impact the schedule too much.

I did get the iphone app for updates, and well the place isn't that big that we couldn't just see what was happening on each stage.

getting excited!! Working a 1/2 day tomorrow and took Monday off!
