Really? I think it's great. I cant decide if I want to go or do something big in the fall when  the new album us out.

I'm holding out hope for ACL, which is in October and now two weekends. The icing on the cake would be if the boys did a late night set during the week.

Didn't they already confirm they aren't playing festivals this summer?

I guess this got ignored because of wishful thinking or something, but I think we can put the "I hope they're at this festival" to rest. I'm pretty sure that JJ himself said there would be no fests this year.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

subinai

if they tour in the fall i hope they still play amphitheaters. MPP and mann would be awesome at that time of the year

I think everyone understood that it was a long shot. I have not seen that quote from jim though.

And ACL is not in the summer! I never read anything that they wouldn't do fests either.

I'll still wait until March 4 to move the Forecastle thread to Other Music...
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Praying for East Coast Swing in the Fall with a PC5 in December
What's in here won't disappear

Louisvillians are due for a Jacket show!  Red Rocks and all these classic venues are awesome, but not for a poor Kentuckian haha!

Good, no fests. More full dates. I'd rather speculate on openers there may be than what festivals they may or may not play. I say another run with Dr Dog would be a fan favorite.
Don't you ever turn it off

Does anybody think they'll do a handful of summer shows if the album isn't out til fall?

That's been my thoughts. I don't know why we have to wait for the album for a tour. I would think the band does their thing recording then the producers take over and the band can go play.

So hoping for an MMJ return to Outside Lands!  I go every year!

I'm not a big fan of Outsidelands.  After the first year, and the Radiohead night where you couldn't move a freakin inch, I swore I'd never go again.  Then next year MMJ played, so of course I went, and then two years later phish played, so went again.  I really hope they don't do Outsidelands because I'd be forced to go again.  Just too many people in a tight space for my liking.  And the logistics of getting to the park and getting in are ridic.

Ha! I'd rather go to Outside Lands than Bonnaroo, or pretty much any other festival, myself. The grounds surely are too tight, which kept me from getting very close in 2010, but I still had a great time, because I got to rock it with ms y, vespa and Matt! Staying in SF also helps a great deal, and would make the logistics for me easier, I guess.

Have you Jazz Fested or Newported yet Crispy? You can't make such festival statements until then.

Good point, Tubey, I very much want to go to both of those events and turn around my generally poor opinion of festivals. You wanna take me along to one or both?
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

*raises hand in back of room*  just want to go on the record with this:  i love attending bonnaroo.  not for everyone, but i love it so.

I'm with ya! I was set on taking a year off this year and exploring other festivals, but I'm still frantically trying to find a way to make both Roo and [insert MMJ mystery date] work. Any year I've missed, it just breaks my heart not being on the farm!

BigHerm

Love going to bonnaroo as well

Looks like I'm going to plan on a Jacket tour in the late summer/fall, sell my Forecastle ticket and go to Lock'n fest!  The lineup is going to be incredible!

I had a drunken conversation with Tucker Martine on Night 2 at OBH (I was the drunk one) - he was standing inside sound board fence by himself.  He was vague about timeframes and I got the sense that they won't be touring until Fall.  I was asking him if they would be testing any new material out at OBH (they didn't) and how the new songs were coming along - If I were to guess and hope, they might tour Sept-Dec with wrap up shows in PC - this would be testing new stuff with Album dropping around new year.

Of course, I could be totally wrong

Well this could really hinder my Red Rocks party plan. Gonna have to figure out another way to hang out with the Millers.
The weather at Red Rocks can be amazing late into September or even into early October......?
