Just been thinking about it....would you guys rather have an all MMJ show with some rarities or rather see them throw in some covers?

This is just a question, I am not criticizing their shows, just wondering what other people think.... so do not get mad random forum member!
no you never gotta fight with me

I just want to hear Just Because I Do.
some get stoned, some get strange, sooner or later it all gets real.

I've never seen MMJ play a cover song live if I remember correctly. Every time they've toured my neck of the woods, they usually play lots of old and new songs but only their own.

I'd love to hear It Makes No Difference or Tyrone.
How loud can silence get?

It seems as though they went through a phase where they were literally playing no covers whatsoever, this seemed to start to change around 2010 (give or take) and lately it seems to be the norm to have a couple covers every show.  I'm all for covers, but would enjoy a new mix of fresh ones into the setlist.

But I'll go with 'Rarities'

Definitely Rarities

Strangulation
O is the One
War Begun
Hell
IWBTWYD
Bermuda
Hopefully
Rollin Back
Thank You Too
Look at You
Evil Urges
Touch Pt. 1
Hard Helmet

are all high on my must see list.
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

Rarities, every single time.

Considering I have seen them play every song from their catalog that I really have wanted to hear other than Remants, it would have to be covers.
Specifically How the Gods Kill and Black Sabbath would be high on the list.
Alive or Just Breathing

An interesting topic would be creating a dream set list of cover songs you'd like to see them play.

Sure did.  They used to play it all the time and then it just kind of disappeared, and hasn't been played since T5.  I tweeted my ass off (and recruited several others) during the 2012 tour to no avail.  I just want to have some kind of hope that it isn't dog-housed forever.

Knot Comes Loose, Just One Thing, and Just Because I Do are songs I really want to see..... they're more realistic than:

Weeks Go By Like Days
I Won't Cry
Sweetheart
Can You See the Hard Helmet On My Head

now is it just me, or have they never played Can You See the Hard Helmet On My Head?
Anyone else like the song I Won't Cry? I fucking LOVE it man

Gotta go with rarities...

NEED to here By My Car and Friends Again Live!!!! :cheesy:

Not saying I don't love the Covers either.
Tyrone, Makes No Difference, All Night Long are always great.

How about Rare Covers...
Lovin Cup? Only heard of them playing it once at '06 Bonaroo, and it was awesome!!!

I really enjoyed 'Hot Legs' at T5.  They killed it!

Rares, if I had to choose
Y'all got any disco ball back there?

True on the covers Mr. White.  I saw Neko Case join them for Stop Draggin My Heart Around in Philly and it was special.  The one off covers are tremendous and a lot of fun.

However, after listening to MMJ all these years and never catching a performance of Just One Thing or Rollin Back, I would have to pick the rarities by a slight margin.  If you're talking covers like It Makes no Difference and Oh Sweet Nuthin' (as good as those are), I'd definitely vote for rarities by a larger margin.

Rarities for me by a mile..

I've been to somewhere between 22 and 25 shows and i still have a fair amount of white whales.  However, 2012 was such a treat, so many surprises that I never thought I would experience.  Off the top of my head:  IWBTWYD, Rollin Back, They Ran (all those at Red Rocks!), Strangulation, Where to Begin, Welcome Home, Sooner, Rocket Man (the first time at Forecastle i was shocked that they played it, many times since though).

I'm with some of you, i would love to hear songs like Weeks Go By or Downtown, but that's probably a pipe dream.

Realistic White Wales that i will always be hopin for...
Picture of You
If All Else Fails
Into the Woods

I would go with covers, since most of the rarities are fairly laid back, and as blasphemous this may sound, some rarities are not up to snuff.

But if I had my list of rarities

Remnants
Where to begin
Same in any language (though may be a cover since it is Ruckus)
They Ran
Weeks Go by Like Days
I think I am going to hell
Knot comes loose
Thank you too
Sooner
Pops, Langerado, Lollapalooza, RCMH, Miami Beach, MSG, St Aug, T5.
