i notice all of these other shows are popping up, and i thank you all, but i need atlanta badly, i have both the other shows i've been too, it would be a shame to not get this one

sweatboard

I've got a recording of it but it's not that great.  I need to figure out how to increase the gain so it comes out louder.  So if anyone has a good way of doing that please let me know.  I've been waiting for another recording to surface because I saw some really nice mic's sticking out from the center of the balcony.  If that recording doesn't show up this weekend I'll try and put mine up on etree by next week.
There's Still Time.........

i saw that recording equipment too...where are you mystery man?
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

Those may have been for the band. Didn't Tom mention that every show gets taped?

I know the DBTs have their sound guy tape every show so that they can use them to listen to and make improvements on performances.

Wouldn't the band set up a soundboard recording rather than set up an audience rig though?  just a thought.

Well, there's a yes and no response to that.

It all would kind of depend on the venue, I would think. SBDs don't always give a good representation of the mix at the show because there may only be minimal guitar feed in the board and there may be lots of vocals (those are just the first 2 examples I thought of).

Did that make sense? I don't feel like it was typed out very well.

ya, but if they're recording it and want to get a good mix they can do another mix for the recording and kick the guitar up.  obviously this is all speculation so who really knows.

corey

Good point. It's also all speculation on my part that the mics on the board were the bands. :)

I think a lot of bands do both, one for the atmosphere sound and one for the boards. That would leave more to mix with if they decided to release a show.

The guy recording with the nice setup on the center balcony was recording for himself. I was standing next to him for most of the show and I asked him if he was recording for anyone or just for himself. I would really like to find a copy of his recording.

sometimes bands use multiple setups to achieve a better representation of how the "show" was.  I think they call using both SBD and AUD versions is called MATRIX.  I've heard shows where 4 different mic locations were blended into one really full sounding recording.  Those shows always pop up...  It took almost 2 weeks to get the Primus show up.
O, How time flies, with crystal clear eyes.  But it's cold, it's cold, when you're ending with diamond eyes.

if the band is recording it I wouldn't expect it to pop up.  that's just speculation based on what I know about them and their recording history.  The band has a LOT of stuff the fans don't.

Maybe they're recording the shows for an official bootleg series like Pearl Jam does!  probably not, but a man can dream, right?

corey

Just me being anal here again, but I doubt that they would ever release straight SBD recordings or matrixes. Pearl Jam actually does multi-track recordings of every show that can be mixed, whereas SBD recordings can't be mixed. What you have recorded at the end of the night is what you have.

I know that probably makes sense to some of you, but a couple of you may not have a full grasp on that.

(That sounds really mean, but I don't mean it to be that way. I have a hangover and can't figure out a better way to word it right now).

Hey all.  The taper that you all are referring to is a friend of mine.  And a great taper as well!  It should be up on etree soon.

STEELY

oh man, best news I've heard all week! can't wait to hear this one again!

Don Dante

Amen STEELY.  It killed me to grab the first 2 shows, then the 4th one pops up like it was some kind of conspiracy, being that ATL was the only show I've been able to catch.
Keep on dreamin' boy,
cuz when you stop dreamin'
it's time to die.

thursday

Any word on the recording?    ???

jack_ass

yeah, come on, we were told we'd have some recording, so where's it at ya'llllll

STEELY

Hopefully someone will have a chance to transfer it soon. I don't know what happened to the guy he the front row of the balcony - maybe he doesn't want to share?

Maybe he just has a job and a life and hasn't had time to get it ready to distribute?    Maybe he has been busy with the holidays?   Maybe he had his nuts bit off by a laplander?

Come on folks....the show was just a few weeks ago.   Good things come to those who wait.  I know the taper as well and am sure if he knew the B&M-ing going on here, he'd see to it that it never gets out.

But that's just my opinion......
