I'm sure there is a reason that song is the single.  If you look at all past first singles it makes sense.

i'm not sure i follow...what singles are you referring to?

Well, after looking at the mmj wiki im confused now, i thout circuital was released as the first single but they dont list it as a single there at all.  Anyway, looking at singles in general:  Outta my system, black metal, im amazed, off the record..  All qualify as some of the poppiest songs in the mmj catalogue.  I wouldnt be worried if the first single off of the new album is in a similar vein.  This has been going on since 2005 and they have still managed to write some pretty good music in between.  Ill be worried when the whole album sounds like that.  However, we already know through compound fracture and only memories that this is not the case.

gotcha.  I tend to agree with this.  I was texting with another forum member about Big Decisions and Jim's co-writer on the track (Dan Wilson).  Dude's a major pop songwriter (Adele's Someone Like You, Pink, John Legend...also Pres Hall, Spoon, Weezer).  So, it's not surprising it has a very accessible sound.

Why does there have to be co-writers for songs? Why can't Jim and the gang write songs without some pop dude in the music industry? >.<

I wonder the same.
Dan Wilson was the lead singer of the band Semisonic.  They did "Closing Time"

Like I mentioned before he did some work with Pres Hall on the album Jim and Ben Jaffe co-produced, so I am guessing that's how they linked up.
Don't you ever turn it off

I was at Brooklyn Bowl one night and saw Peter Shapiro.  He owns Brooklyn Bowl & Capitol Theatre.

I asked him if he was trying to get MMJ back for another 3 night run at the Cap.

He had a big smile on his face and simply said, "We're working on it"

^^

My theory is that they (music buis ppl) are still trying to get it down from PONO and anytime we post a direct link to it the thread gets deleted.

I bought it as well. Would be weird for them to take it off Pono at this point.

Pono are music biz people. They are surely working with A&R to get all non-Pono options pulled until the single is released next week.

I agree that its unlikely the band had any influence over getting the YT vid pulled.  I mean, Bo favorited my tweet saying I loved his work on the track.
The band absolutely had it pulled.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

I wonder if they might hold off on multi-night runs until the second album drops, so that they have that much more material to string together and blow our minds with...

I love your thought process!

Stevie

So at a maximum we are about 48 hours away from an announcement and its possible that we get a roll call email as early as tonight.  Very exciting stuff!

Hopefully Waverly is close enough for johnnyyac to make this!
"Where's Jim going?"

Isn't it obvious that it was done specifically for him?

Well yeah, especially since this fest is hitting Seaside Hts. N.J. but sadly no MMJ on the bill that weekend.  It could very well be the Yac effect benefitting Iowa!

I was thinking of making the Seaside deduction as well. To me, at least, its obvious that without any exaggeration the band is going out of its way to put the masses on a temporary hold and satisfy the request of one incredible mega-fan.

BIGVICLBI

UHG Seaside would have been so close and easy.

I hear ya. It would've been my closest to home show yet.

I guess being the same weekend as Governors Ball had something to do with it. I'm not sure why Seaside chose that weekend.

I would guess with Jacket playing the festival in Camden, NJ in July that would influence them not playing Seaside.

Why is that?  Those towns are just about as far away from each other East to West in NJ as you can get. I think the Governors Ball has more to do with it than Camden. They're probably prohibited from playing another fest so close in miles that weekend.

Wait, which festival in Camden is that?

Wilco, built to spill, Alabama shakes, and father john are coming to town. Now all I need is for MMJ to drop their dates. This is going to be one hell of a summer!
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

I think I'm setting a record for highest frequency of checking in for news in the past 24 hours.  I know that screen shot said the NC show goes on sale March 6, which means news soon.  But I don't want to get my hopes up for this week in case that was pushed back.
