Update: A new song was used in a episode of the Blacklist http://www.tunefind.com/show/the-blacklist/season-2/22120.. and http://www.heardontv.com/tvshow/The+Blacklist/Season+2/T.+Earl+King+VI. Hope someone caught it or can DVR that and let us know how it sounded  (sometimes the links don't work for me? but it says "Spring (Among the Living)" Season 2 Episode 14 T. Earl King VI Playing when cops raiding the Kings)

Also: Great find on that Rich post!...Best since It Still Moves, wha?!?!? sweeeeet!

Just found it on my On Demand. It's a quality teaser, the song sounds unique. Thanks highway.

Stevie

Wow.  I wonder if he meant simply better than eu, z and circuital or that it resembles ism in some way or both.  Given the one critics remarks about them finally being able merge sounds of the past with those of modern times it could be all of the above, and then some.  I gotta stop reading this thread though i dont want any spoilers til i get that puppy alone and on vinyl with the house to myself.

It's almost 1:30 of the song that you can hear between the wordless scene with the police raid and then under characters talking. Has that kind of building pulse like State of the Art and Victory Dance, but is more upbeat than either. And it sounds like there's a "one two three four" then instrumental jam right in the middle of the track.

Hot stuff!

Thanks rjlemons! I think "Spring (Among the living)" sounds like it could be a frequent show opener, loving everything i have heard so far!

Has anyone seen a track list with song running times?

EDIT: Nevermind I found them....
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

The five songs here all sound great, I hate to say it but my expectations are growing!

Stevie

I thought for sure that first song of the trailer would be the first on the album but turns out..no.  Kind of cool though it seems like they loaded all of the real heavy hitters at the back end of the album.

Crazy to think that they have aanother full album in the wings.

Hoping for some tracks with strings on this album! Leaves the door open for more live shows backed with groups like Boston Pops, Louisville Youth Orchestra, Andrew Bird, etc.

Strings on Spring! Yeussss
Here it is, in its entirety, our cover of ELO's Telephone Wire

I do enjoy the Miami Jungle version as well however I can see why they stuck with the version that's on the album.  It seems to mesh more with the rest of the songs and it also sounds much more polished (although, maybe they reached a stopping point with all of the Compound versions and then put extra work into the one they picked for the album).   That sinister guitar in the background though on Miami Jungle.... if they dubbed that over onto the album version it would be perfect.

I'm not sure how I feel about what they did with "I Can't Wait."  That was a song that didn't really need a lot of work but again I understand why they did what they did.  Jim even changed some of the lyrics, seeming to fit with a theme that is emerging with his work.. moving towards a more upbeat, positive feeling.

"..knowing that there's no way to get back if I should stray" seems to have been changed to "..hoping that there's a way, etc..."

Not that I know him personally but from my perspective it seems that he has been willing himself into being an optimist for quite some time now and i'm cool with that, but I will always prefer that old acoustic version even if it does sound sad.

Willard1979

Ok, Im just gonna say the suspense is killing me! Only 8 days til the album is released. Im hoping my order will be delivered on release day. Part of me wants to find the leak, but I think I will just wait til its in my hands.

Willard1979

I caved! I downloaded it. Couldnt wait any longer. Im about halfway through the album, and I dont hate it. I think it will be a grower.

the "grower" phenomenon...i can't recall a record where this term has been uttered as universally as this one.  I feel like a lot of it has to do with our own unique expectations for the album and when this album matches none of them, it takes a few listens to readjust and appreciate what this band and Tucker have done.

I agree, I think the first time through the album we are more likely to listen for what we are hoping to hear from them more so than what is actually there and we miss things.  We miss the vibe initially.
