Some of you know I was in dire straits last fall, when heart surgery went south and I almost died, repeatedly.  After 10 days on life support, two months in ICU, 204 units of blood, and additional surgery, I survived the ordeal.

My brother told the band about my plight and they were great.  Carl called me at the hospital and they sent me a get well card package.

Then the last night in Chicago happened.  My first time making it through a full show on my feet.  Better yet, on the rail, Carl side.  It was epic.  At the end of the show, One Big Holiday, the band came out for a bow and Patrick then came over to ask me how I was doing.  Melted my heart after melting my face.

Awesome! I haven't been on the boards long despite having first seen the band in 2006, but glad to hear you're doing well.

John this brought tears to my eyes this morning. I had no idea just how dire the situation was, nor that this was your first Jacket show back. Makes this little video all the more holy. So truly grateful you made it through and are thriving, pal...super stoked to see and your little lady in milwaukee

The poster situation is easily the only complaint I could have. Got one the first night but not the next two. As early as I arrived, and as empty as the venue was at the time, I would have expected to score one both nights. Supplies must be super limited!

On night three I walked in at 6:40 (Doors at 6:30) and I got poster 149/150. These posters went really fast. I really like how they flow from one poster to the next, but I don't really love them. They are all basically the same with just a different color. Would've loved something like how the Port Chester shows went.
Mona Lisa must'a had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.

Actually, I made it to OBH in Mexico just 8 weeks after leaving the hospital, with blessings from my medical team.  The band arranged for me to sit on a stool near Ryan Pickett at the soundboard; otherwise, I'd probably not be able to attend the music.  Chicago was my first time in a pit, on my feet for a full show, since Jim solo in Portland, ME in 2013.

Lookin' forward to Waverly and Milwaukee this weekend!!!

I was just happy to be standing behind you that night.  Got a ton of love from the band the whole night including a head banging Carl solo right above your head.  I was glad to have reaped the benefits!  Nice talking to you as well.  Great freaking shows.....

Hey, I was standing next to you at both of those!   Hope I didn't jostle you too much at that last one.

It was so good to see you John, catch up, and rock some shows with you.

In a week filled with great shows, people, and so many fun moments, and highlights, this might have been the highlight of highlights. A very cool moment for sure. One I'm so glad to have been next to you for, and one I'm sure I'll never forget.  I caught Patrick pointing to you during the show, and no doubt he was glad to see you. Such a warm, genuine, heartfelt embrace, and words to match from him. Very cool moment indeed my friend, and so happy for you.  To have it captured on video is the cherry on top.
