This'll be my first time at MPP. What's the parking lot scene like? Meaning, can I bring a few beverages for some pregaming? The faq page on Merriweather's site says no alcohol in the lots. Anyone have firsthand experience? All I want is summer weather, a chill parking lot, cold beverages, and some herbs. Will I be given a hard time if I try to do that?

mpp used to be my "home" venue, but have since moved to germany for a year or two.  in my experience, the parking lot is relatively loose when it comes to tailgating and drinking - but herbal remedies would be your judgment call.  ideally, i usually re-purpose cigarettes and bring the pack along for the show.

I've never had any hassle pregaming the lot for a Jacket show (2010, 2011). I've heard that for Phish shows there has been problems.  As long as you're not beer bonging from the roof of your car and you use some common sense when it comes to getting your mind right, you'll be golden.  See you there!

The only other time I was at Merriweather was for MMJ in 2011 and the scene in the parking lot was the most laid back, party like atmosphere I've been to besides maybe Jones Beach.

I've never had any problems at MPP with drinking, but then again I think most venues post No alcohol just in case people are out of hand.
