Was a little concerned after the best setlist of the tour so far last night. That'll teach me to ever have a hint of doubt about this incredible band. War Begun was sick, 2nd best I've ever seen aside from Mexico and then the transition into IWSYS is always a treat. Dondante was ridiculous. Looks like PWW was on setlist but not played...no complaints here though. Really solid show. See y'all at Red Rocks!!

anyone that went to Raleigh show as well, did Charlotte show have any backdrop or projections. last year Beck's show in Charlotte had backdrop with great projections but in Raleigh he didn't use it. Just wondering if Red Hat has limitations that other venues don't.

Just a dark backdrop, no projections.  That's typical for the Raleigh venue, imagine because of how the stage is constructed and weight limits on the beams.

My 4th show this tour and it was my fave. Dondante, War Begun, IWSYS, Lay Low, Highly Suspicious (with Lucius), and a Wordless opener. What more could you ask for?

Raleigh set list also looked amazing, but this was a great set. Now to close out my tour with 2 shows at the Fox!!!!

Anyone know who designed the poster for this show?

Loved the energy and flow of this set.  The crowd seemed to really be into it and they guys were on point.  I really liked how they incorporated Lucius into some many different songs over the past couple of shows.  The At Dawn was show stealer though, so so good especially as an opener (in this case encore opener).  War Begun and IWSYS were my other couple of highlights for me and didn't even sweat that PWW was cut as they have been cutting almost a song at every show I have been to.  Great way to end my run of shows for the summer.

What I love about this band is how they clearly pay attention to what's come before at a venue. Charlotte was passed over for many years, and its kind of like they're playing what they're promoting, but dipping in and playing some deeper cuts to make sure we get exposed to it all. Either way, it made for a great show. I thought it was more mellow that what we'd gotten before, but that's not to say mellow was bad, or that it was completely so. It was a perfect summer concert. And Lucius. One of the best openers I've ever seen. I've been following them for a few years, and what's great about them is they're not a one trick pony. They harmonize beautifully, but the guys that back the lead singers are just phenomenal. Musically, they give Holly and Jess an edge to the vocal parts.. and it doesn't come out on their albums the same way it does live. But I could just listen to those guys play music all day long. Two of the guys were in a different band before Lucius that I saw as an opener for another act at the Evening Muse years ago... another female fronted band, and walked out thinking how great they were. I talked to them a bit, too and they are absolutely students of music.. talked about influences and how it affect how they play (think Radiohead). So when Lucius came about for them, I followed with interest.. so yeah, I was stoked to seem them take the stage with MMJ... I figured Holly and Jess would, but seeing the guys on drums at the end on songs that I love was fantastic. They really added a lot to that encore. But... I really thought Holly and Jess were wasted a bit on Wonderful. I wish Jim would've used them more than just backing vocals and let them sing some parts unaccompanied by him. I really don't feel like I could hear them much, but maybe I'll hear them better on the tape. They do a great version of Wonderful that they play live too, and have been for a few years. You can hear it on the deluxe version of their album too. Anyway, minor quibble. Also gotta throw some love out to the venue.. as much as I'd love for the world to love this band the way I do and I'd love to see them get bigger success and payoff, I LOVE seeing them at this venue. Not a bad seat in the house and it sounds fantastic there. The band showed us tremendous love in performance and set choices.. can't wait for more!!

This recording is so great. Just about perfect for an audience recording. Great job NSL! I will buy you a beer if you are at the Fox shows.

The more I listen to it the better it gets. The encore with Lucius was spectacular. You can hear it in the percussion, they really added something to those songs. And although I've seen OBH performed at least a dozen times, this one may be my favorite. It may have been the rowdiest OBH ever... you can hear it in Carl's guitar.

Bring on the Fox!!

So glad Charlotte's concert is online.  I liked the set in Raleigh better, but I loved the energy in Charlotte more.  I had rail both nights.  It was incredible.  Erica was with me both nights.  Laura (Janecool) came down for Raleigh, and I brought my coworker, Tabitha to her very first MMJ show in Charlotte.  I am very sorry Henry couldn't join us.  It was just incredible.  I got a lot of love in Charlotte from Lucius and the guys were in great spirits - even hamming it up at times for photos.

This was one of those times when you just ride the music and the high is incredible.  I wish I could continue to hit some more shows.  Now the come-down begins and I have to live vicariously through others.  I love this band.

This is a shot of me during the Lucius set - my MMJ virgin friend Tabitha is to the right.  MMJ virgin no more!  Face sufficiently melted.  Mind blown!

Such a great review. I also thought the show was fantastic! This was my 10th show and 4th of this tour. I think it was my favorite of all time.
