Athens was sold out before 10:00am.  It was the first one I tried and it said sold out.

I broke down and purchased on Stub Hub, hate to do it but feel I got a bargain as I see these going for over $200 each as it gets closer.  Just hate we had to do that.

DId well on all other shows though.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

Hopefully no one buys roll call tickets on stub hub because they will be out of luck

This x100.  If people keep buying these tickets 3x over face value like this the problem will only get worse.
just saying roll call tickets are non transferable so if you buy them on the secondary market you are shit out of luck...unless this rule has changed

Yeah I understand that, and that's another part of the problem as well.  Aren't these tickets will call only?

The problem isn't how much the show is worth to you, the problem is scalpers grabbing up tickets and turning a huge profit. Frank G is right, it is a steal...somebody stealing an extra $100 than what the ticket is worth.

But, "worth" is what someone is willing to pay.  No one complains if you purchase a home for $80K and turn it a year later for $220K.  Is the home worth $80K or what the person is willing to pay which is $220k?

I know, but had to make that point.  The term "worth" is VERY relative.
If it would have been easy, I would not have cared.

Those tickets on stubhub are NOT fanclub tickets. They are brokers putting tickets out there early (hedging) that people will get desperate and buy them BEFORE the regular onsale.  These brokers don't even have tickets yet.  Be smart and don't buy them.

I think you might be right.  Check out Red Rocks as there are already 25 tickets for sale and it hasn't occurred yet.  Interesting.

Same here...as soon as soon as the link showed up, I was in.  Sold out...must be people on the inside getting tickets.  I have about the fastest connection possible.

Roll Call allotment for a venue that small was probably less than 50.

So its possible that 950 tickets are going to be sold on Friday morning?

LUJAC

For the Roll Call Tickets you have to show up at the box office the day of show to get your tickets.  You have to have either a state issued photo ID or the card used to purchase.  Some of the venues won't let you leave with your tickets..ie you and everyone you bought tix for have to be at the will call window and they will walk you into the venue.

Even if there are 950 tickets left out there, 99% of roll callers did not have luck and now the general public will be involved on Friday.  I got all the other shows that i wanted and great seats for the most part, so i think i'm going with stubhub just to get a sure thing for Athens.  I'm driving 13 hours to get there and already have tickets for Knoxville on the way back.  I'm not going to take the chance of losing out on Friday and then paying 200 a ticket for Athens.  I hate it, but that's just the way she goes sometimes.

Stevie

One thing i do know, and learned from the latest super bowl ticket fiasco..  Stubhub will not leave you hanging even if they have to shell out top dollar for tickets.  Once you click purchase you are guaranteed to be at that show.  For an extra 160 i'll take that certainty... may come at the cost of hotel stays, though.. luckily the back seats in the forester fold down and provide quite a bit of room for sleeping.

See you all there hopefully.

scosby2

got shut out...did get front row for birmingham though...and like 6th row for knoxville

MMJCOBRA

me too...on both accounts.

Did get front row for birmingham.  Seats 5-8..

Scosby, which seats did you get at BJCC?

Does Georgia Theater use Ticketmaster for ticket sales or is it only through their website? I could not find them on TM like the Tennessee Theater show.

GATH has historically sold through their website, not ticketmaster.  Hoping I can land one on Friday.

I agree but it is inevitable.  We have been saying this for years.  My first Phish ticket was $13.50 at the local record shop.  Ticketmaster is just as much to blame as the greedy bastards who put them right out for sale.

In the end, I love this band and if it costs me a little more for a wonderful night experience, I'm okay with it.  Simply supply and demand economics.

Again, while I do NOT agree, we cannot change the fundamental aspects of business economics.

You're looking at a very small amount of tickets available now.  On Friday there will be ~900 tickets released.  Yes, more people will be online buying them and yes the show will sell out quickly, but a $200 ticket isn't going to hold as much value when there are more tickets available.  People paying the ridiculous price of $200+ that they're going for on stubhub right now are fools when the show isn't even sold out.  Factor that in with a full tour and many stops within 4 hours of GA, the demand isn't as great as you think it is.

Yes and no.  I have 4th row to the Fox but will pay whatever for this show.  it is the TOUR OPENER in a venue of less than 900.  You have to be kidding me if you think we will be able to purchase for $100 closer to show time.  I hope you are right because I'm holding out for Friday tickets online.  But if these sell out to true fans, and no scalpers, the ticket prices will SOAR past $200.  Just my .02 but don't think people realize how tough this will be to get a ticket.
