NYE 2012 Phone was unfuckingbelievable. I'm not religious at all and it made me see God. It was way better than the Red Rocks version that year.

for me the best PHONE WENT WEST was the one i personally had the great pleasure of witnessing at my first ever Jacket show (missed the SLC 2007 show cause they were playing at a 21+ venue  )   . its basically the same jam they would play at the Red Rocks shows the next two days after this show, except i felt this version from Salt Lake City 2012 was just disgusting. Also the WAR BEGUN that was played at that show was fucking nuts...it separated my spine...seriously if you guys wanna hear a really really really good War Begun check that version out.

also, How Could I Know from the Gypsy Tea Room, Dallas 2004 as an OPENER is THE BEST EVER VERSION OF THIS SONG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O698fxngNHo                        Where To Begin from 12/29/2012 at the Cap was brilliance and beauty combined

of course the greatest version of One Big Holiday will always be Bonnaroo 2004.
god....with Steam Engine now that's a tough one to pick...i've always absolutely considered the Okonokos version Definitive but lately so many new versions have been blowing my mind.

Rollin Back from Red Rocks 2012, as the opener WAS BRILLIANT....

Evil Urges as the opener from the SLC 2012 show was soooo sick...the guitar breakdown after the chorus is absolutely played perfectly and those guitars are vicious as all hell

I Will Sing You Songs from OKONOKOS will never be topped....its absolutely perfect...it can never be fucked with...that version is THE VERSION for me....i feel it in my blood and DNA like its a part of me.

Sooner off Acoustic Chorale was really really beautiful, and kudos to the person who put Strangulation! from AC, that is THE VERSION too

Hopefully - MMJ, "At Dawn" , T5, NYC 10/19/10: http://youtu.be/rFcmE7Touyc another highlight of the terminal run... Hopefully w Carl going jimmy page on us w a violin bow guitar accompanying... I never really see this mentioned and I'm not sure if its something they ever really do very much but I loved it that night. And while I am glad to see war begun getting so much love I must once again posit that the rendition from 2004 I posted is better than the ones people have been putting up from obh... But only just. Its funny how too 04 isn't getting mentioned as much in this thread too because for the longest time that show was like the alpha and omega of best mmj concerts... But if any band was gonna be able to top themselves it'd be them. I also like what they have been doing with touch me pt two in the last few years... Just some subtle differences but they used to do it pretty much note by note from EU... They also changed up EU itself at obh 1 in ways that improved the song considerably I thought. I count myself lucky to have been to some of their best shows, roo 06, the t5 run, the msg nye, radio city, red rocks in 08, Boston in 2006 which had an awesome easy morning rebel w horns and dancefloor before they had horn sections at a ton of shows...https://archive.org/details/mmj2006-12-02.4022.flac16 of all those shows the most fun I think I had was a quick one at too, and run thru and cobra at langerado 2007, steam engine from radio city where Jim played in the balcony( may be misremembering) and their cover of miss you at terminal 5 at dawn night. Turned the place to a disco. Also did like a thirty minute cobra which was INSANE. I think the acoustic stuff fromhttps://archive.org/details/mmj2001-03-17.KVRX_Radio are some of the finest versions including perhaps a definitive Nashville to Kentucky esp. How beautiful Jim's voice was when he was still practically a teenager....

Forgot a link to langerado which should be discussed more I think as a classic show...https://archive.org/details/mmj2007-03-10.4011s.flac16
This acoustic version of up on cripple creek into blue moon of Kentucky when he opened for lamb chops Kurt Wagner rules too..https://archive.org/details/mmj2000-12-15.early.aud.flac16 also has cool suspicious minds and acoustic think I'm going to hell also... Oh and I love just the sound of the planetarium bootleg... Sorta lo fi but so what... Love the picture of you at this show https://archive.org/details/mmj2001-09-08.Gheens_Planetarium
