Songs not played live

Hi all, first time posting here and I have a question about the song "Sec Walkin". I am a big fan of that song, one of my early favourites from the album that got me into the band in the first place (truthfully, the first MMJ album that I heard -- which I realize makes me rather late to the game). I'm wondering why the band never seems to perform it live. I've only been to three shows, but have seen various set lists online from other concerts and that song never makes the cut. Anyone know why?

For that matter, I wonder what other noteworthy songs never get performed live?

MMJCOBRA

Sec walkin is definately not one of the more popular songs off of evil urges, at least on these boards.  However, I am a huge fan of this song as well.  For whatever reason, it speaks to me.

The did play it on the EU tour but I don't think they've rolled it out since that tour.  You should request it via their spontaneous curation request when they play your town.  Who knows.....

...and welcome!!!

It seems that "You Wanna Freak Out" has also been dropped since the circuital tour.  Again, love this song and I think it would make for great set openers!

I'm still hoping for a "Just One Thing", which has been relegated to Sound Checks or "Just Because I Do"...

Yes I would love to hear more songs from EU mixed in these set lists. Love SEC Walkin but another gem in my opinion is Thank You Too! Also on my white whale list is Highly Suspicious with PHJB backing. Hoping to make it to New Orleans later this month and if so I will definitely be submitting that one to Spontaneous Curation!

I thought about this too, but PHJB is on tour in Delaware that night.

Have they ever played Look At You from Evil Urges? I requested this and Sec Walkin for Spontaneous Curation but was shutout.

Yeah they do Look at You every once in awhile. I have seen it twice (in 2012 SC tour). Both times it was during the Jim solo/acoustic part of the show.

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Just for fun, someone posted this a while back but this is a beautiful version of Look at You from T5 Evil Urges night. Sorry I do not know how to embed.

all of those have been at least broken out way more than COME CLOSER, which besides Columbus 2012 has barely been played outside of 2001-2002. And that song is perfect  :cheesy: ive been tweeeting that one like crazy

COME CLOSER has always been my rarity that I have never heard live. I have tweeted constantly for the song, I even missed it by one night back in 2012! At this point even if I don't hear it live but can get a live recording I would almost be fine with that, lol

Thanks for the good advice. I will definitely put the Spontaneous Curation option to use when the opportunity presents itself...though the odds of them playing my town anytime soon are probably not great. I live in Canada and other than Toronto, it seems that Canadian cities don't often make the cut on their tours :(

Though on the plus side, this state of affairs does create an incentive on my part to travel :)

oh mannnn if someone recorded the Columbus 2012 show thatd be insane to hear 2012 Come Closer.  I missed it by 10 nights and Rollin Back as an opener by one :(

I'm just wondering if there is a reason they won't play Librarian.  I would have loved to hear it.

Fully

I would just once like to hear the original discordant version of Tonight I Want To Celebrate arranged the way it was on the Heartbreakin Man EP. It's beautiful and poignant,  whereas the version played on the omnichord is somewhat sappy. Just once. It's one of the first songs that caused me to fall in love with the band. Young,  vulnerable Jim moves me so much. I know he can't stay young forever,  nor has he been able to remain as open and vulnerable in his songwriting,  and his voice has changed some,  but I just want them to recognize that that was a beautiful version of that song.

Same. Reminds me of my wife as she used to be a children's librarian.

Chills is another!

Sweetheart has been played once and luckily we have a recording of it from Gypsy Tearoom 2006 and its a beautiful, more upbeat Carl led version but the essence is all there especially with Bo nailing the piano tone to the point i get chills. This song is perfect live, we need it more

Holy and Can You See The Hard Helmet On My Head have never been played.

One In The Same as well
How Could I Know (Oxen) just never gets played since T5  in 2010 and itd been 5 years before then that it had been played.

How Do You Know has been played and was frequently played in 2004-2005 and the Okonokos version is definitive but why its only been broken out in 2008 and thats it boggles me, its a killer whale live,

Come Closer though takes the cake. I must hear that song, at least even a live version let alone being able to be lucky enough to witness it live
