Purple Rain is gonna kick ass in the thunder storm ;)

AlwxanderD10

Does anyone know the venue's weather policy? Since only half of the place is covered, would they cancel a show for a thunderstorm?

Edit: kind of found an answer.

Yeah I was there once in the uncovered part when it started pouring rain. At the top of the uncovered seats there's a covered balcony people can run and stand under. Or we just went down below and stood in the aisles.

thank goodness for early entry. hopefully any bad weather will blow thru before showtime, but it's nice to know we'll be able to snag some seats under the roof.

good article in the courier-journal this morning:

http://www.courier-journal.com/story/entertainment/arts/music/2016/05/10/my-morning-jacket-iroquois-park-louisville/84134966/

James said that a new MMJ album is taking shape, but not the one that fans were expecting. When "The Waterfall" was released last May it was announced that there were more than enough songs for a second, vastly different album to be released this year.

Some of that music is still in play, but a recent surge of inspiration got in the way. Some of the leftover "Waterfall" music will still be used, but the album will take off in yet another direction.

"I feel like a month ago I didn't have any idea when I'd want to make another My Morning Jacket record, and then all of these songs popped out and I got super excited," said James, who anticipates a 2017 release.

I like this part:
MMJ's shows on Thursday and Friday night will be self-contained events. No songs will be repeated and the band's entire catalog is up for grabs, along with a selection of covers possibly dedicated to the dearly departed. At least one new song will appear, and possibly two.

Weather is looking pretty good ! 50% chance of showers tomorrow evening and a 0% chance of rain Friday !

This will be my 8th & 9th MMJ shows but the first time getting to use the Roll Call early entry. From whats been posted it looks like Roll Callers will get to start going in at 6:15 then normal gates open at 6:30. Will they let everybody in the Roll Call line in before they allow the other line to start going in? I plan on getting there and in line around 4:30 but I was expecting more than 15 minutes for the Roll Callers to get in first. Thanks for any input and see you guys tomorrow!

In the early entry info it says the show time for Thursday is 7:30, and 8 on Friday. Wonder what that is about? Doors for both shows are at 6:30.

How am I supposed to focus at work today?

ugh. weather forecast is about as bad as it could be. clearing a bit during the day, then bad weather blowing thru from roughly 4:00-9:00.

looks like there's no avoiding getting soaked. if you're standing in line to get in you'll get drenched.  if you wait until the lines are gone you'll end up in the uncovered seats.

i'm at the point that i just hope it's not severe enough to cancel or delay things. maybe twin limb can take the night off.

Im envious. Those Legendary Roo performances when Jacket seemed to control the weather and made it start pouring during "epic" parts of songs.....i think youll end up loving it no matter if youre drenched or dry!!

rain i can handle. it's the potential for lightning and 60mph winds like we had last night that i could do without.

Have a great time  those of you going the next couple of nights. Looking forward to hearing all about the shows and hopefully seeing some pics as well.
