Don't worry! No complaints here! Just cold hard facts/stats/quantifications.

Aside from Night1 Broomfield and the Beacon shows has this band had a REAL bust-out of an MMJ song since 2013? I'll arbitrarily define "bust-out" in this context as something that has not been played in 2 years plus.

I went through every set-list since 2013 and it seems that the answer is no.

Sorry should have clarified: "Bust-Outs" (at least according to my understanding) means a song that has been dormant. As opposed to a live debut.

For the purpose of this question I'm only curious about actual MMJ songs and not covers.

midwesterner

I am still waiting on another "How The Gods Kill" I believe the last one was 10/19/2010.

Would also love to see Lil Billy (last 10/18/10), Sooner (11/28/15) and By My Car (last 10/18/10) all get played at least once a year.

Thinking of these songs makes me really appreciate how special the T5 run was. Not sure if some of the songs played during that run will ever get played again.

APR

I would count this:  Remnants - 11/19/15 Tower Theater in Philly.

Haha. Beat me to it.

I believe it hadn't been played since T5 in 2010
"Where's Jim going?"

This would be my #1 question if I ever got to interview any one of them.
"Why are there certain songs that don't get played?"
A- because u guys just don't think to play them
B- overall just not fans of them as songs
C- too painful for Jim to sing, and brings him back to a troubled place (I needed it most/by my car/oxen)

3 of my favorite songs by them and after 20+ shows only heard 1 live (I needed it most - electric factory in philly December of 2006)

Great call! I was at that show and it was crazy when it was busted out! Should have known that one!

Interestingly, as I'm sure you remember, that Tower gig was announced late and (presumably) was a warm up for the Boston and Beacon shows. I imagine Remnants WAS busted out because its trying on Jim's vocals (moreso than most other stuff) and they knew they'd be playing it twice again in the following 8 days.

I now see that the Orpheum had the first Nashville to Kentucky since 2012 (which also went on to be played again at the Beacon) days later.

Remnants was also played on 11/21/2015 at Orpheum Theatre in Boston.

Since the Beacon shows, the only sort-of qualifier would be Just One Thing, busted out at Red Rocks in 2016 after lying dormant since 7/18/2013 at Darien Lake, NY.

Before that, there's
Nashville to Kentucky (11/21/2015 Orpheum, not since 12/27/2012 Capitol Theater) -- oops, missed the updates since I started querying
How Do You Know (8/12/2015 St. Louis, not since T5)
They Ran, Twilight, Rollin' Back, Knot Comes Loose, and Where to Begin also all saw 2-3 year droughts since T5.

Good stuff.

Good intentions had 2.5 appearances (.5 at Bonnaroo) in 2015 and hadn't been played since 2012

Jim performs "I Needed It Most" solo from time to time. I saw him do it (and recorded it - my first attempt to record anything live) at the KFTC Benefit show at the Brown Theatre in Louisville on Dec. 29, 2011.

Great recording

God I love that song!

We got Good Intentions both of my first two shows hahahha
but randomly both times i put it on the setlist it was removed by someone, who then sent me an angry PM saying ITS NOT A SONG...well...yeah...technically the scream IS...

That version of They Ran in 2015 was magical...i really wanna have an official live recording of that version they've been doing. So beatiful, so perfect.

Good and Limber

I haven't done a lot of research but how often do they play Sooner?

Sooner has been played 54 known times at MMJ shows -- first at Louisville's Waterfront Park on 8/28/2002 and last on the Beacon run -- working out to an average of about 13.5 shows between appearances since its debut.

     No doubt about it!

Including JJ solo gigs, the number would go to 61, with the first occurrence on 4/30/2002 at Jillian's in Louisville, and the average gap between Sooner shows would then be about 14.5.
