Anyone been to or seen a show at the venue? Any thoughts on the venue itself and the area of town it's in?

I saw Neil Young there a few years ago and its absolutely gorgeous.  You feel like you should be seeing the ballet there or something.  Certainly does not feel like a place where youd see a rock show. 

As far as location, i dont know the area super well, im sure others could provide more context, but a quick glance shows that its right by grant park and within a short walk of many really good hotel deals.  I got a 4-star through priceline, refundable, for 130 per night before taxes and fees.  Looking forward to that walk home each night, those are always fun and much better than just hopping in an uber.

Definitely look for alternative parking options as overnight hotel parking will be  40-70 per night.  Spothero app has always been good to me.

Saw Sigur Ros at The Auditorium and couldn't believe the acoustics. So. Damn. Good.
Also saw John Moreland (open for Isbell) from the upper balcony and you could hear his guitar and voice as if he was sitting right in front of you. All in all, I would say the sound quality is better than the Chicago Theatre.
The area is the north end of the South Loop with lots of food and drink options. Close to a couple of train stops if you want to stay in a different part of the city and take that to the show. Chinatown also isn't too far away which has A LOT of food options.
Fun fact.....the theatre is pretty old and at one point had bowling lanes on the stage.
