Never was a big fan of War Begun but now, a couple of years later it's become one of my favourites. Same kinda thing with Strangulation. I think witnessing those songs live had a lot to do with it.

Just Because I Do and Rollin Back still haven't touched me yet but who knows what i'll think of it in a while.

Funny what time can do (and kick ass shows ;) )

Lowdown and Xmas Curtain and One in the Same:  still not my faves, but I don't skip those tracks anymore.

Really?!  Lowdown and Xmas Curtain totally got me the first time I heard them.

I started to really like Just Because I Do after I heard 'wiggum's version.

Yeah, the tribute versions made me listen to some of the songs again. Masterplan, for example. I'd forgotten how good that was.

Run thru was one I confess to skipping at first. Now I love it. I sometimes sing "Oh shit run" at work.

(hey lady!! :))

Yeah, it's about twilight now - when I first heard it, I was like "Wha?"  And now I have that bass line in my head a lot.  Tom's really good, eh?

Awww, shucks. Thanks. Thank JJ for writing such a great song.
I have to be honest... there were only a couple of songs that grabbed me on "At Dawn" and "The Tennessee Fire" the first couple of times that I heard them. I played "It still moves" almost constantly for the first few months that I had it (I got them all at the same time).

...and I have to say the same thing about EC's cover of "Bermuda Highway". I usually just skipped that one until I heard her cover. Then I went back and listened to the original one and it's just damn beautiful. How did I ever skip that one?

This is interesting.  This is why I love the band.  A lot of people get into them for the rock aspect.  And a lot of people get into them for the quiet/beautiful aspect.  And then usually the one bleeds into the other until you see them as way more than you could've thought at first.

Does that make sense?

I remember learning that they used to bang their heads all around at shows (before I'd even seen pictures), and I was like "What?  Those lovely, sensitive, quiet guys?"  Ha ha.

They're a good example of the fact that you can be anything and everything you want to be, you just have to be good at it.

Yeah, it's kind of wacky to see what immediately attracts us.  For me, War Begun, Strangulation, and Bermuda Hwy, all mentioned here, were songs that I loved from the start, and still some of my faves.  Whereas Lowdown was one played on the radio all the time (so obviously it was popular) but it just didn't grab me.

The Way That He Sings had to grow a bit on me. I liked it from the start, but now I think it's probably their best song! Great tune.

I'd have to say that one knocked me out from the start.

Dancefloors used to irritate me, but I've gotten used to it. I love that horn break in the middle. Reminds me of the Doobie Bros "Rockin down the Highway".

"Run Thru" has grown on me as well. A lot of the tennesee fire had to grow on me as well. It took a little effort to get the whoel way through the first time I heard it, because the production is a little strange. But its got some truly golden tunes on it.

The entire 'Chocolate and Ice' EP took me a while to love. And Mahgeeta, wich is strange, I know, since that appears to be the song that got a lot of people hooked to MMJ. Well, I love them both now.

I still remember the first night I spun ISM in my player--Mahgeeta hit me over the head like a Nine Pound Hammer ;D

Dancefloors irritated you?  In what way?

maybe he thought it was too "honky-tonk" for MMJ?  I personally dug it right off, but I am a junky...
