Err, does Pitchfork reviewing the track mean that it's somehow legally released, or that it will be the next single, or something? Or do they just review random tracks of illegal albums floating around on the internet?  ???
I'm ready when you are

Quotehttp://pitchforkmedia.com/tracks/05-08-29.shtml

My Morning Jacket: "Wordless Chorus"
genre: rock

Wherein stringy-haired So-Rock yokels pull one darkly electronic miracle. Intros can be misleading, but this one ensures the foundation-- growling sub-bass, drums canned tight, staccato Rhodes flickering against darkness-- then grows like Mr. Beanstalk. MMJ used to steep its whole package in commodious reverb, but here vocalist Jim James bathes solo while the band stays dry. The spare, burbly groove is thin enough for a howling James to swallow whole, his vocal features surely some of the most cavernous man-made sounds ever committed to tape. Hurricane lovers, check the stormy, immersive denouement: It's a Category 5.

I would say that's a good review.  Except for the stringy-haired part.  Long, yes.  Wild, sure.  Stringy?  No.

It's a very descriptive review.  Quite timely, too.

sonuvaBITCH I am so tired of hearing about the new songs.  I mean, I'm not.  I just want to hear them.

Maybe I should start writing for music magazines...  ;)

They have been known to review leaked songs and/or albums from time to time. Depends on how anticipated it is.

primushead

I think it's a good review.  Go to the site and look at the stars above the rating.  4.5 is good as hell.

QuoteOh, and sweat, I like the 'a good pair of headphones and weed will help' quote.  It sounds like something I'd say. ;D

I like it to......

A good pair of headphones
and the stuff in this bag
are the two best lovers
that I've ever had
Now if you find you agree
with what I just said
you better find you some jacket
and let em' into your head.

What is that, Mr. sweatboard?

darkglow

i'm sure pitchfork got a hold of one of the promo cds that are floating around out there.. i've heard of more than a dozen radio stations that have been playing the new tracks lately.. as in.. the completed versions not the leaked ones.. WOXY had "off the record" in it's top 20.

i also think you guys are not realizing that october 4th is slipping closer and closer. they could drop a single on us any day now.   8)

EC

Sure, they could do a single.  But a bunch of slow dance songs?  They probably won't happen before the special date.  :)

Do they really mean that?  Are there slow songs?

Fuck, don't tell me.

I'll wish for that, too.  Maybe I'll find a penny on the street tomorrow...

Did you know that "The Pennny Arcade" is a music venue in New York State?

interesting

"story 'bout the things that i'd say it'll make it up to you at the penny arcade!!"

sweatboard

I believe it's "Sorry bout the things that I had to say, but I'll make it up to you right now at The Penny Arcade"

*humiliation*

opening that booklet full of lyrics will be a prize in itself.

sweatboard

No, it does sound like "Story bout" It took me a while to get it.  I really can't wait for the lyrics.  There are so many things I'm curious about.

QuoteSo was that good or bad  ???  Sometimes Pitchfork writters are more concerned with making clever metaphores and displaying there super awesome writting skills than actually reviewing the music.

I couldn't agree more. They can write, however sometimes less is more. I don't really get their overloaded style. Sounds like a bunch of show-offs to me, trying to hard to sound cooler/smarter than you.

"Wherein stringy-haired So-Rock yokels pull one darkly electronic miracle".

"So-rock yokels"  ??? What the hell is that about?
Don't take yourselves that seriously guys, you're not the all-knowing center of the universe (that's still me, I'm sorry  ;D).

after reading their overblown stuff I just want to play some AC/DC!
"I am hot, and when I'm not, I'm cold as ice"

Now those are writing skills.
