reviews of music make me laugh, really hard. Z highlights (so far):
-imagine "My Iron Lung" soaked in sour mash
-jumps and crackles like a Seventies Dixie-rock take on the Who's "Happy Jack
-The Eno-esque flutter and gentle bump of the electronics
-the band's loose, rough strut dissolves into reggae-dub shadows
-maybe Sly Stone meets the Bee Gees
-the aural equivalent of a Tim Burton stop-motion dreamscape
-lighter, weirder and less bound by gravity
-It's a spiritual cousin to Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer
-the instrumental weight of a mid-1980s power ballad
- a refrained slow jam whose mood invokes Air or, less blatantly, the Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"
-the band taking on a more anthemic U2-like arena sound
-It's a mellow vibe that the band puts forth here, one reminiscent of Elton John
-a modern semi-update of "D'yer Mak'er"
-an ambient / psychedelic / Southern rock union
-The band has subscribed to the Mary Poppins philosophy
-Jim James knows what he's doing
- a more malleable version of Mercury Rev's Jonathan Donahue
-an ambitious pop record with a healthy respect for classic rock
-A low keyboard pulse begins the album as if to summon the hockey army from Strange Brew
-doing his best Al Green impression
-A slinky guitar line reminiscent of Remain in Light era Talking Heads
-Guitars careen left and right, recalling Neil Young's sloppier and dirtier Crazy Horse work
-feels like a Flaming Lips song but I can't help but feel like I'm hearing "Footloose" somewhere in there too
-a groove and melody ripped straight from "Pass the Dutchie"
-isn't just a cheap ploy at a Modest Mouse sized indie rags-to-riches story
-like a cross between "Lust For Life" and "Come On Eileen" (or perhaps some more Kenny Loggins)
-a three-minute percussive jam that recalls Air or possibly even Can
- a delectable taste of pop flair, only to wear you down with their percussive groove
-jazzy Paranoid Androidisms
-twinkling piano and big chords borrowed from the Who
-moves away from the more overt Band and "The Notorious Byrd Brothers" references, closer to a convergence of Who-like playfulness and drive with R.E.M. mystery
-sounds like The Clash's reggae experimentation mutated with The Who
-a ragged, almost Paul Westerberg rasp
-does reggae the same way Led Zeppelin did reggae
-Wagner-meets-Pink Floyd
-it translates that past into a fresh yet familiar, rip-roaring yet soothing new present
-These guys could blow up 2004's Bannaroo Festival and still make an Urban Outfitter blush
-ten songs that jive, moon-walk and cock-rock in equal measure
-Michael Jackson doing "Benny and the Jets
-Time, space, and stylistic paradigms lose all meaning: jagged Ziggy Stardust deconstructions
-Molly Hatchet hires DJ Shadow to do the drum track
-like a song U2 could do if they were ever remotely subtle

I am so happy that so many are stringing words to describe MMJ; they deserve all the creds, but, in the long run, you only need to know 2 things:
-Buy Z
-see them LIVE!

Ah Man, those are great! Some are very true, some are just plain funny.
Too many good ones to quote - love it!  ;D
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.
