ill suck as a human being, though, if it makes you feel better about yourself.   ::)

uhhh you don't suck though...cuz you're doing everything right...relating to the music because of the music....you obviously didn't read or understand exactly what i  said

primushead

So...what the hell is the meaning of the video?  Someone tells a secret and their supposed to keep it 'off the record' and then everyone gets arrested?  oh well...good song anyway.

Holy crap, that is a terrible video.  I'm not watching that ever again.  It reminds of that terrible Bright Eyes Video for "First Day of My Life".  One Big Holiday seemed a lot more like them then that did... but whatever I guess.

I expect this kind of crap from Whinny Connor Oberst, but not from my favorite band. good god this is a lame video.

whothrewthecake

well, i finally watched it. hmmm.

darkglow

it's weird.. but fun to watch.. jimmy looks like a random bum

Hello.  I'm a longtime fan and lurker.  This video has inspired me to break my silence - what the hell is going on?  It's so bad, so, so bad.  I don't know what they were going for with this video.

dragonboy

Hey Deanna - good to have you aboard!

Reading the posts no one really loves it, do they?
One things for sure, I really don't think the band have done themselves any favours.
I wonder how invloved they were in the decision making process?
Do you think the band like it?
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

i dont know what the hell you all are talking about, but i thought it was awesome...music videos these days are bad and not much emphasis is put on them anyway...but this reminds me of a joke i used to tell when i was a kid...a boy hears the word, "snickerdoodle" and goes around asking random people what it means...everytime he asks someone they flip out and the boy doesnt know why...maybe my joke got around to the dude that made the video..but i gotta watch that again...

Dee.

Thank you for the welcome.  :)

It just seems like such standard fare.  I expect cooler things from the band. That leads me to believe that they may have not been completely involved in the 'creative' process.

But who knows?  I'd love to hear their thoughts about it.  I wonder if this will get played on tv a lot.

if they did this video right it could really propel the band into the stratosphere. the way the music video system and music industry work off eachother and the way this band is being hyped right now (for all the right reasons...the music) they are prime to be a candidate for an amazing video that will have them blowing up. they always have the option of doing a different video for the song i guess...

primushead

How did yahoo get a hold of the video before the official site did?  It seems the band would've posted it here first....

darkglow

i've gotten used to the fact that us MMJ fans are kept out of the dark about alot of things

MMJ_fanatic

I tried too and got an error message saying the video was unavailable.  oh well, maybe later...
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

I like the idea, it just wasn't shot or edited very well.  It's like one of those movies that really makes you think but you have no desire to watch over and over again.  It makes it's point and once you see the point there isn't much left to enjoy about it.  It really made me think about our current government and media situation.  It also made me think about technology and how information travels so fast these days as well as mainstream vs. underground. etc. etc.  I liked it, and to back up what a few people said, at least they didn't go the Audioslave route and have the band play on a roof with a bunch of pro lighting and fireworks going off.  I think the band sees video as just another opportunity to make art instead of another marketing opportunity.  I think this is a good thing.  I also agree that I have come to expect a little more from the band, it didn't exactly blow me away but then again niether did the video for One Big Holliday.  They need to let whoever did those little promos for It Still Moves and Z do thier videos, that is some amazing stuff.

i like the flaming lips approach to making music videos. They're weird enough that they're actually good. Hopefully the Jacket will never turn to music videos as a necessary art form, but as just a peripheral to the music. Something to be enjoyed a bit tongue-in-cheekishly, like the Flaming Lips videos. She Don't Use Jelly, anyone?
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

I just watched the video and I don't really like it. It's so common.  The message is being repeated during the first two and a half minute, which is way to long.   It has no balls and not so much creativity.  In fact I find it a little bit childish.

I never try to be negative on the band, because honestly, I didn't have anything negative to say so far, but all I can say now is that I hope this is not the official video.

Maybe they need an Anton Corbijn or a Romarek to do their next video.  I always liked their video clips, especially Hurt by Johnny Cash.

Nevertheless, what's important is the music, and I still like it very much.

I got to watch three or four soda commercials, but no video.  Yahoo my ass.
