The My Morning Jacket albums are...?

Let's say that "Z" is like a modern cosmic rock album and "It Still Moves" is like a southern americana traveling rock album and "At Dawn" is like a ghostly acoustic homegrown rock album.

How could you describe "Tennessee Fire" because sadly I don't have that album.  Of course I'm going to buy it, but I'm just curious as to what I'm in for.

low-fi space rock with awesome fucking lyrics, production that will unveil special little quirks with every single listen and some passionate and original playing.  It's flat out a Masterpiece and sometimes I think it might just be my very favorite record of all time.  I simply can't get over the production on this record, I know Jim will say it sounds like it does because they couldn't afford any other equipment but the way he uses that equipment is truly nothing short of genius.  In 50 years people will be talking about this record and how truly special and unique it really is.  I don't even think people can really truly appreciate how ahead of it's time this record was, partly because it is so low-fi, despite being low-fi it's light years ahead of it's time.  We'll what I'm trying to say is this record is "Timeless" in every since of the word.

P.S.  The recording of "I Will Be There When You Die" on The TN Fire is the best recording ever made.  It gives me chills.

The Tennessee Fire is by far my favorite album, while I got into mmj in 2003 with It still moves, it was good music to me but not until I decided to buy TTF in 04 (I think) is when that album straight up smacked me in the face. I was hooked from that moment on. The production is truly incredible! Sp good on a cold winter's day.
Which is why I need the vinyl... who's selling?

imagine, if you will, a fateful date in mid December, 1999.  a friend invites me to see "this killer new band" and it's MMJ.  i'm speechless after the show.  i buy the CD, and spin it endlessly for days on end...

then, I plan an epic roadtrip for New Years 1999-drive home to PA for the Xmas holidays, and then drive back to Louisville, and THEN drive to the Gulf Shores area for New Years Eve.  the soundtrack is TTF, of course.

i went from snow in PA to 70 and balmy at the beach within two days, with Jim and co. along for the whole ride.  that night is etched in my brain forever, with me drunkenly repeating "The Bear" over and over and over again...

This one took more listens than the others to fully appreciate it. Its a great album but if I had to judge its still my least favorite of the four. But sometimes I'll be listening to it and think it has some of the best song writing of any of there stuff.

The MMJ albums are...........sounding a bit "young" to me of late.........maybe they all just sound better to me in the summer......or I'm just getting old..........hopefully they abandon the 'rockin' out' vibe a little on the next album, and do something quieter/more mature......they have SO much potential.
