I noticed that many people think that the song Same In Any Language is MMJ, but on the back of the Elizabethtown soundtrack it says I Nine.  I thought it was JJ when I heard it.  Did he help do a song for another band or what?

Same In Any Language by I Nine is on the first Elizabethtown CD.
Same In Any Language by Ruckus, which is MMJ is on Vol2.

Hope this helps  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

cherryghost

fun fact....

Same In Any Language was written by Nancy Wilson for the movie Elizabethtown. I Nine and MMJ (as Ruckus) both perform the song on volumes I and II of the soundtrack. There is also another beautiful MMJ song on volume I called Where To Begin. When Cameron Crowe was filming Elizabethtown, he saw a MMJ concert and loved the band so much he wanted them in his movie. You can see Jim James in Elizabethtown playing guitar for a cover of Free Bird.

... the more you know!

Thats exactly what I thought.  The I Nine singer sounds like he should be in a cover band for MMJ.

hmmmmm, maybe I am confused here, but the I Nine singer is a female...So, I'm not sure I hear how Carmen's voice sounds so close to Jim's. But yeah, like stated above, there are two versions of the song on both soundtrack discs. I think MMJ's is the one that appears in the movie, but I haven't seen the movie in a long time.

KC

no i was confused, sorry. I think I may have miss-tagged it.

Ya I must have miss tagged it also.  When I ripped the cd the artist it said was I Nine.  I thought that was Jim.

I have 2 versions of the song.

1 - Running Time 5:16 (slower, sounds more acoustic)

2 - Running Time 4.42 (with much more reverb and Jim says "one, two" at the beginning.

anyone know where this longer version came from? Nipsey's on to something here. I can't find anything listing another version of "Same in any Language"...

My running times say:

 I Nine: 3:42

 My Morning Jacket: 4:42

Kory

Yea, that's well understood. Nipsey has one that's 5:16 and it sounds completely different. I looked on Magnix's showfinder and can't find that it's been played out anywhere. It sounds completely different.

I even checked Dylan's covers comps just to be sure he didn't track it down from something else. Maybe Nipsey will be so kind as to upload it to our site for folks to check out for themselves...

Weird because that is the version I have from the Elizabethtown CD.  Doesn't make any sense.

I purchased mine through iTunes and have the 4:42 version from there. This was the first I had heard the longer, varied version.

so your etown (what we call elizabethtown here) cd has mmj as track 15? Can you take a picture of the back of the cd with track listings or scan it in if you don't mind?
