God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Not too sure what they mean, but I don't care, some sweet artists on there!

"Cosmic American Skank" - I love it!   8-)

dragonboy

I've only heard 1 & (obviously) 6.
I have The Royal Scam on order from amazon, which has 3 on it.

You're not a fan of the OTHER Elvis, DB?  :o
In another time, in another place, in another face

I don't want to get caught sleeping around  ;)

I don't know enough about Mr Costello (there's only one Elvis in my book!) to have an opinion. I definitely need to check out his work but truth be told, I'm not a big fan of his voice. Still, I used to say that about Tom Waits but finally saw the light last year so there's always hope...good place to start?

"My Aim is True" is a good place to start, then branch out from there if you like it.  Myself, I'm a fair weather fan.

I started at the beginning with My Aim Is True and have been moving along in chronological order.  His first three are simply outstanding; I listen to them all the time.

I asked you about him before DB and you didn't comment. I highly reccomend My Aim Is True and This Years Model is pretty good too.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

EDIT:
I was gonna say Red Red Wine by UB40 too but apparantly they have two black guys. Its still mostly white boys.

Sorry True, I don't remember reading that.
Thanks for everyone's recomendations, I shall add Mr Costello to the 'need to try again' list  :)

You're kidding, right?!!
UB40 are the worst thing that ever happened to Reggae IMO.

Thats the only song I know by them. You can't tell me you don't like that song?

I like the original. The UB40 version got played over & over & over again in the UK + I used to know so many people who thought they were reggae fans because they liked UB40  ::)

i'm loving the jacket making this.

what about "rock-disco" songs:
the stones - miss you
mmj - first part of cobra

i'm guessing it would be a short list
Much Greater Than Science Fiction

aMD

how about d'yer mak'er by led zeppellin? and sublime too?

It's cool that the boys made the list and for PWW not Off the Record.

BH

I'm really proud of everybody.  It's been two whole days and nobody has felt the need to correct the PPW to PWW.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

aMD

woah, i didn't even realize it or I would have jumped down db's throat, big time.  joking, of course.  i even repeated the mistake myself in my last post, but I've edited now.

UNCUT had this list too: 10 WORST White Reggae Songs*

1. Snow - Informer

2. The Beatles - Od-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

3. Big Mountain - Baby I Love Your Way

4. Barbados - Typically Tropical

5. Mishka - One Tree

6. The Rolling Stones - Cherry Oh Baby

7. Judge Dread - Big Six

8. 10CC - Dreadlock Holiday

9. Matisyahu - King Without A Crown

10. Led Zeppelin - D'yer Mak'er
The track that ruined Houses Of The Holy; a reggae "tribute" as indigestible as the pun in it's title (D'yer Mak'er/Jamaica - do you see?)

*UB40 don't count. Sorry.
