The DARK

Simple question. For me, it's At Dawn. Bought it 3 months ago, but it never really caught on until yesterday. Death Is the Easy Way is becoming one of my favorites. I think it may be my favorite right now...emphasis on "right now"  ;)

The Tennessee Fire. Once it did, however, it was the only album I listened to for about 3 months.

TTF. At first, everything seemed kinda muddy and not much stood out due to the style of production. After awhile I liked it a lot but it still may be my least played of theirs.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I agree!  I bought it and it listened to it a few times, liked a few songs a lot, but put it on the shelf.  Then a few months later I listened to it again and was like...holy shit, I love this!
nothing can be changed except ourselves

Chico

TTF for sure.  It is still growing on me.

It Still Moves. I bought it first and had trouble getting into it for at least three months.

Ditto, but once ISM hit me, all of the other albums were instant bliss the moment I bought them.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

For me, Z actually took the longest. That's because I was too attached to It Still Moves for my own good. It had helped me through the hardest time of my life and it took me a little while to move on. But after a few spins, I realized that Z was extraordinary and exactly what I needed to be listening to. Change is good. What better song than Anytime to remind one of that?
Everyone has a photographic memory. Some don't have film.

It Still Moves was probably second longest for me. I think because of the track lengths, several songs being 5-7 minutes long, I will Sing You Songs is slightly over 9 minutes. It was also a surprise for me starting with Z and basically going backwards into their catalog.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

My thoughts exactly.  I only would listen to the first 5 songs on ISM b/c I used to think it trailed off after that.  Then I discovered the beauty of IWSYS and Steam Engine.  After that, I couldn't get enough and was just buying whatever album I could find the quickest and enjoying the hell out of it.

TTF still hasn't fully grown on me, after all these years.

Got to go with Z. I still only listen to a hand full of tracks from the album.

JacketGal

TTF for sure, I still find new and amazing moments when I listen to it. ISM was the first one I got then I got At Dawn (still my fave) and then I got TTF and Acoustic, Chocolate and Ice, etc.  Found Sweatbees in Amoeba records and I practically ran to the check out! (You know how the addiction starts and you need EVERYTHING in the catalog?).
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.

MMJ_fanatic

I must admit TTF was a slow burn for me whereas At Dawn and It Still Moves were more instant KOs.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

well since my obsession with the jacket was sparked by the song "the bear", it still moves and at dawn were instant favorites. but when z came out, i was like "what is this?". it was so different from their previous 3 albums, but once i listened to it from start to finish, no more than 2-3 times, i was convinced that change is good. very good.
who fanned the fire that burned down the lake?

Same goes for me  ;)

I've managed to love all of them pretty much instantly... If I had to pick one, it'd be one of the two Early Recordings, or the At Dawn Demos.

I wasn't counting Early Recordings. Most of those still haven't grown on me.
