"MMJ Does the Stroke"
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

Give me just one tidbit until mine arrives.  Is Magic Man a Heart cover?

Kory

not sure. I've never heard Heart's version... I'll look into it...

iTunes is in on it now, just to let you know.  ;)

And Magic Man is NOT a Heart cover. Though I don't think it's an original...

My better half called me at work and told me I got something in the  mail.
I currently have a BONER ( I could pound nails ).   I Can't wait to go home and put it in my peapod,  bust out the air guitar and rock out like an IDIOT.

The DARK

Great...now my eyes and ears are in on it too.  ;)

Most of the demos sound like the early recordings. Not essential for non-obsessives, but still great.

The live songs are absolutely AWESOME, though.  8-)

I just ordered mine. Anyone care to let me know about the quality of the recording on lil billy?
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

However, the 2 Meter version of "Lil Billy" is not on the disc, probably they found another recording after all, because (as Chandra from Darla wrote when I asked) "We did finally get the 2 Meter version of Lil Billy, but Jim liked another one better, "live at Nashvegas" is all I know."

Hi, Ger and everybody - it'll be hard to believe if it happened, but that version of Lil Billy *might* be a recording at Exit/In on January 24, 2002 that I made.   Jim had heard a bunch of 'em (most that were sent from you, I guess) and he had heard a copy of that show I sent 'em back in '02 and liked that version.  He said that he liked it because you could "hear everything", I think.  Unfortunately, you can hear the crowd, and me, laughing and hootin' and hollerin' on it as well.   So I sent it out and never heard anything, but maybe they have a way to "clean it up", but I figure it'd be hard to completely eliminate the voices in the audience on that recording.   Maybe they found a better version from that show or another in 'Nashvegas'  ("What's 'Nashvegas?" -Sitter, '07) -  I always liked the October 25, 2001 (a date which shall live in infamy) version from Austin better - his screaming on that version is blood-curdling!!   I also sent him the version of Lil Billy from Dallas, June 11, 2002 (five year anniversary of the release date for these demos!) - it wasn't a very good quality recording, and the tempo was a lot faster.  Anyway, it's hard to go wrong with Lil Billy, whichever recording it is.   "Billy walked up to me, said 'it's time to fight!'"   I'm glad that these demos are being re-released.   I think that they're worth the price of the entire disc just to get Jim's solo version of The Way that He Sings.  'It still sends shivers down the spine', paraphrasing George Martin on Lennon's A Day in the Life, circa '94!

It doesn't appear that anyone has mentioned this yet, so here goes....The At Dawn & Tennessee Fire Demos Package is available for download on iTunes.  I just discovered this mins ago, in their "Indie Spotlight" section!  I'm downloading as I type this!!  It's very reasonably priced @ $9.99! Unfortunately, there are no Bonus Tracks, but still, that's an amazing deal!  I'll have to pick up the CD next time I'm at the Indie store.  Until then, at least I'll get to enjoy the new Jacket Goodness!  ;)

Get it here!  http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=256093878&s=143441

Listening now. I love the pics in the booklet. The recordings so far for the most part are better than on some recordings on ch. 1 and 2.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!
