I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but people seem to skip over the best song we've seen so far.  In every article online they mention the same four songs!!  I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Smokin' From Shootin' blows Touch Me I'm Going to Scream (2) out of the water!!

Could not agree more JustOneThing.  My favorite new one for sure.  And I love Amazed, Touch Me, and Suspicious...a lot.  But this song is beautiful.  Between the old R&B style verses to start, the steel guitar, the lyrics, and the way it builds, it just blows me away.  Those two pause and releases after the line "THESE GUNS..." = money.  I am not a safe driver during that portion especially.

I just don't think Jim would say "faith can't prove..."  First of all, I think he is a spiritual person....second of all, I don't think he would put down people's faith...that doesn't seem his style.

Well, I will say that faith tried to prove that the earth was the center of the universe until science late resolved it.

So in that instance, faith could not prove what science couldn't resolve.

BUT, science WAS able to resolve it at some point.

is a double negative.   Listen to interviews with Jim about this album and the religious overtones, touch me part 2 he also says lord, and in one other of the new songs I heard lord too.  He is a spiritual man, he says he doesn't know what the higher power is like, but he believes there is something.   I think we can all understand that....  


Don't bend Jim's lyrics to fit your view point, it's silly.

I'll end with a quote of Jim's from their last album of a song you may have heard, Gideon -

First off since when does grammar mean anything in lyrics?  I originally interpreted it as science might not be able to prove if there is a god, but faith doesn't prove it either (Many people try to use the lack of information on the creation of life as proof of god).  Everyone interprets songs differently, however as I listen to the interview he does have faith in the "zone".  Its weird how you don't hear it right when you not sure of the lyrics and when you do it seems bright as day. As to the quote, "if it did say "can't" it would just be that same obnoxious "religious people are stupid" type of stuff".  I'm don't know but I hear much more obnoxious religous songs than anything.  I don't know a whole lot of death metal but I can only think of "Losing My Religion" and I'm sure Jim could pull it off without anyone feeling "put down" or even realizing .  And since when is voicing an opposite opinion on religion "putting down people's faith".  Should religious people not voice their faith to prevent putting down people's lack of faith?  But to me Religion is hither nor nither.

I think it's fun too mishear Jim's lyrics, whether intentionally or not.  For one thing, Jim is pretty cryptic and it's not always easy to discern what he's saying, so just figuring out the correct lyrics is a challenge without actually seeing them.  Granted, the actual lyrics are probably going to be much better than what you were thinking they were (most recent example of this:  the song Evil Urges).  However, on Mahgeetah I like to think he's saying "I've been waiting on the bodhi" (as in bodhisattva) rather than "boat here".   Or "there's no tribal waiting for me" instead of "trouble" on Dancefloors.  I think Jim is purposely ambiguous on certain words to allow the listener to make up his own mind as to what he's saying.  If bending the lyrics makes you appreciate the song more then go with it!

Who wants to say sorry to Just One Thing?  When I got the cd today, I went through the lyrics and laughed when I saw that it does say "Faith can't prove....I think most of the lyrics to this album are amazing.  I think the overall message is that we are all collectively in this together.  It's all about quatum mechanics
