Holy crap, I don't know how I looked over this song!

Just listened to this for the first time yesterday and it brought tears to my eyes!

Now I can't stop listening to it!

...a newbie I brought with me to RCMH fell in love with that song when they played it and has since not stopped playing it........
listen to vinyl

I always loved the way they ended this song live.  Do the still end it that way?  I haven't really heard it live in a while.  It is where Jim just starts playing by himself then the band builds back up with him.  One of my favorite MMJ songs live.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

I feel in love with it at Bonnaroo and have listened to it at *least* once a day since then. . .

As far as how they're playing it live now, all I can really tell you is that it's quite a bit faster live than it is on the album. I guess that's why I never paid too much attention to it before. . .
Because if there's one thing that goes well with shooting zombies it's a Dolly Parton cover-el chode

I feel the same way. I totally overlooked this song. When I heard them play it at RCMH it blew me away. It is such a powerful ballad. I had never heard it live before Radio City. It is completely different from the studio version.

Clarkwork:  Yes to your question. Jim ends the song by singing alone and the band builds back up behind him again.
Wakin up feelin good and limber!

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Uhh, yeah how did you look over this song. I made a mix of Jacket songs for a female friend of mine (my old running/workout partner ya pervs) who was getting divorced. This song made her cry for over an hour. She just looked at me and said everything was going to be ok.

Honest Man

This is the song that made me a fan. I must say the first time I heard it was the most energetic. They all had the long hair bashing and I remember Johnny Quaid Flailing the guitar all over the stage.

Fucking epic.
The fact that my hearts beating, is all the proof you need.

YES!!! my favorite live version of the song.  I love when Jim is just playing the flying V at the end by himself.  Terrific.  This has been off of youtube for a while, glad to see it is back up.  I wonder if this crowd realized how great this was as they were watching it.

great ass song. its a good almost recap of the at dawn album before strangulation finishes it off. the version from bonnaroo 04 is really tight too.
"put away your corset, put away your shoes, put away those old September blues"

C-Bear

I always felt like this was Johnny Q's masterpiece.
He always rocked it at the end!! playing the guitar in the air- classic MMJ.

This is my favorite song of theirs.  I loved it in the Bonnaroo rain this year.  The best live version of this that I've heard I found on emusic Live at the 9:30 club 8/16/2002.

This is a great version and I love the way the ended it back then.  This set also has a great version of Heartbreakin Man.  If you don't have it go and get it from emusic.
