QuoteCapt., I don't really know how to set it up with seeding. If you can explain it, or link something that can, I'll do it.

Ok, heres what Im saying.

In the first round, theres 64 songs. 32 of these are moving on into the second round

Once you/we get entirely thru the first round of voting, you order the winning songs based on how many votes they got, getting the most votes being at the top of the winning song from round 1

You then divide these 32 songs into groups of 4 based on winning votes

1-4       - #1 seeds
5-8       - #2 seeds
9-12     - #3 seeds
13-16   - #4 seeds
17-20   - #5 seeds
21-24   - #6 seeds
25-28   - #7 seeds
29-32   - #8 seeds

You now would have 4 regions, each with 8 songs, ranked according to how many votes they got

If you wanna post the final votes for Round 1 in this thread or PM me the # of votes each winner got, I could do this for you farely easily.

I can even do it a bit more technical (ie 8th most voted song (a #2) goes into the region with the #1 seed/song). Just like the NCAA tourney. Best team/song gets the 'easiest' road, the borderline seeds would eventually face the other borderline (worst #2 vs best #3 in the next round)

First of all, xmascriminal, thank you SO MUCH for setting this up. It's a great idea, and it's been a lot of fun.  :)

One idea for an improvement on the capt's idea. Since most likely not the same amount of people voted in each round so far, it's not an equal judgement to seed the second round based on votes received. Percentage of votes received would make the second round seeding more even....I can help you out and figure out the percentages for each round if you'd like. Though votes received will work out fine I'm sure too, better than random seedings.

Sorry if I'm just confusing things. I'm an engineer. That's my excuse  ;D And again, I'm think I'm speaking for both the cap'n and I here, we're really stoked you put this together. Thanks again!

Great idea. I was a little bothered by how uneven it all was when I was counting amount of votes. I've already gotten the percentages for the matches we've done so far and the results are really interesting. Hopefully and X-mas Curtain dropping a bunch of places and Gideon going way up seem to be the major differences. Anyway, thanks.  8-)

The only issue with using the votes (or some kind of percentage based voting) is that it is heavily based on the first round draws. While it looks like Dancefloors might get a 100% rating from the first round, if for example, either Dondante, Mahgeetah or PPW meet each other in the first, their pecentage will be significantly lower. Dancefloors is a great song, but I don't think people would consistently rate it as their number one. I think the only way to objectively seed the songs is for everyone to rank every song in order, and seed them based on those numbers. This, however, is overkill and using the first round votes is probably more than satisfactory. I just wanted to bring it up tho'

Not a bad idea. Is that what you were suggesting, easy way? Anyway, I think this makes sense. We'll have to do it to be completely objective.

I thought about that, but we cant really go back and figure that stuff out

Taking the percentage of votes (great suggestion BTW) is gonna be the closest thing to doing that. Yeah, maybe in this case Dancefloors moves up a seed or something in the next round, but its just a seed. If it continues winning, 1 way or another its going to face Dondante, etc.

Not like Id be looking at everyones list of 64 and doing the math, but that seems like wayyy too much stuff to analyze to figure out the exact place.

Plus it kinda takes the fun out of it bc youd have a decent idea of what couple of songs would likely be there in the end

I agree. Rather than rank all 32 which would take a lot of everybody's time and would be an incredibly difficult process, both to generate and keep track of, I think the percentages idea was great. Next time maybe we can do it differently but for the way this has been going so far, I think that's the best option. What do you guys think?

You see I agree

And really, I dont even know if I could rank them. Its hard enough picking my 3 favorite songs off an album or choosing 1 song in some of these matches. I dont think theres much difference in say my 10 favorite MMJ songs, and I have a feeling most ppl probably think the same things.
