My sister isn't a huge jacket fan, though I try, she just doesn't care too much about music. However, she just texted me and said "I think we're gonna use Thank You Too! for our wedding song, is that appropriate?" I said they have some better love songs, such as Tonight IWCWY. Any others anyone can think of? Rolling Back would be best imo, but shes worried more about the lyrics. suggestions I can pass on? She brought it up, so I'm really pushing mmj for her wedding songs now.

this list begins and ends with one song...

just one thing

but im sure amd will disagree.
out go the lights it begins

I like Hopefully as a love song.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

i suggest just one thing, hopefully sounds more like a relationship on the rocks to me. my final decision for the number one suggestion was Knot Comes Loose

Of course I do!   ;)

I would stick with the tracks from Louisville is for Lovers especially their breathtaking version of Take My Breath Away.  Sweetheart is a good straight-forward love song.  Knot Comes Loose.   My wife sang I Will Be There When You Die to me at our wedding reception.

the outcome of all this is going to be my sister ultimately deciding against MMJ all together, but a mix filled with love songs will probably be the gate way into jacketdom for her, so keep em coming if anyone else has any more ideas.

No Steam Engine? If not because it's one of the best songs ever, then because of this JJ quote:

"It's about a lot of things. There's a line where I say, "I believe none of this is physical." It is kind of a reaction to, in today's world, so much being based on the physical. So much is based on people's appearance and fashion. So many bands seem like they're a part of a fashion show and they don't even give a shit about their music. It's about loving a song because of the way it makes you feel, not because the people playing it are wearing duck costumes or because there's 30 people on stage. It's about falling in love with someone because of the way they make you feel, as opposed to them wearing tight jeans and being hot. I'm just trying to escape from the fuckin' constant, physically driven fashion show that the world has become."

I think most MMJ songs are about love in some way, but I suppose not all the contexts fit a wedding. Otherwise I'd definitely agree with Hopefully, which is such a lovely song. [ch9829] I will be there when you die is a good one as well, preferably the 2 meter session version and Sweetheart is also so, so sweet :)

Not sure if these would count, but:
Wonderful the way I feel
Make it with you (BBC studios version, I know it's a cover, but it's such a beautiful version)

Come Closer
It Beats 4 U
Wordless Chorus
Anytime
Touch Me 2
I will sing you the songs (the music reminds me of just being spent and in so totally in love)

If it was my wedding, I would have One Big Holiday blaring out  ; )

Cute thread.

Hey SaraBBear, where's that quote from?

If she's really not into MMJ or music, I wouldn't push it, you know? Stick with Thank You then assault her with love songs (and all the others) when she returns from the honey moon. Thank You is innocuous and she'll start her love for MMJ on the foundation that it was played at her wedding. I can't think of anyone who plays a song they don't really know at their wedding.

Unless you suggest I Think I'm Going to Hell...  :-/
Jim brings all his love, passion, energy and mystery to the stage and says, "I'm right here."

It's from a 2003 Nude as the News interview, I would post the link, but it seems the site is having some problems atm, so the link doesn't work. I'll check again later and post it if it works then  :)

agree about people playing music they dont know at their wedding. its dumb, but my sister is dumb too. i think it has more to do with her boyfriend the fact that he is starting to get into jacket now. I'm buying them tickets to the hometown show instead of something they registered for.

I'm getting married next fall and my fiancee and I are huge jacket fans. I have been mulling what's appropriate to use during the reception and I have been trying to convince her that "Look At You," maybe an appropriate song for us. It's not my favorite in the jacket canon but the combo of the pedal steel, YY voice and the lyrics (although possibly not about love) I think are beautiful and works in this setting. Otherwise we will most likely be using "Tonight I Want to Celebrate with You" to lead things off and "Wordless Chorus" is a favorite among my friends. Wondering what others suggest as well?
