Quote...until I saw them  solo/acoustic. now they're both right up top on  my list of most beautiful mmj songs.
For me, the solo/acoustic treatment from YY changes my focus from rhythm and beat and epic face meltage to lyrics and emotional purity.  Stripped of the lights, the additional instrumentation, and usually hightened tempo, songs are transformed and laid bare.  Newport Folk Fest this year was my opportunity to appreciate this in person.
Examples:
Look At You
Tonight I Want to Celebrate With You (Laser Harp!)
It Beats 4 U (love the acoustic treatment, though Patrick is amazing)
What a Wonderful Man (I was wantin' some ice cream!)
Smokin From Shootin
Gideon

Also, check out the solo/acoustic versions from ISM on the Rolling Stone sessions, including Steam Engine and Masterplan.  Beautiful!

Lowdown from 03.17.2001 is un-fucking-believable!   ;)

"Sometimes it runs its course in a day, babe.  Sometimes it goes from night after night."

i would have to go with steam engine...

rolling stone sessions:
after hearing this version and absorbing the way jim sings it,
sent chills of love up my spine, still does, everytime i hear it...

Not to toot my own horn (wow, that sounds awkward), but check this link to a thread I just put up, with early solo Jim on video doing acoustic Steam Engine and Just One Thing, a romantic double-play!

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

TIWCWY would be a nice nod to all of the friends and family who are sharing in the moment.  Beyond that, Sweetheart or Just One Thing.  I'd say "no thank you" to Thank You, as I would not want that song to be the first introduction of mmj to a large group of people (I'm guessin that's not a factor in the selection criteria though-ha).
soft and warm all the time make you want it over and over

slimkim

sooner or later, i will come and see you and feel your power in the early sun...

come closer...

babe, there's just one thing. one thing that does... does it for me...

hopefully it occurs to me that there's one thing i can't stand... that's that thought of one single day that your head in my hand...

sweetheart, lover, I wanted you before,
but when the heart beats next to me I want it even more.

so many more...

there's a pool and a pond... pond's good for you...
