Hey, anyone go to last night's show? What other bands played?

Steve

Went to the CMJ Show last night. I don't think that I have been to Webster Hall in about 10 years, normally it is the kind of place that you hear about on the radio that advertises "3 for 1 drinks for thr ladies etc." Regardless I showed up around 10 and caught the 3rd band VHS or Beta, they went on late probably about 10:45 or so...They were not good somewhat of a cross between 80's new wave and a something more industrial..there sound was ok, but alas I stuck for one song and had enough, the next band up was Killing Joke...A goth band...I made it through the 1st half of their 1st song and HAD to leave...horrible. The Jacket hit the stage a little after 1:00...The set list was something like:

Magheeta
Dancefloors
The Way that he sings
Lowdown
Steam Engine
One Big Holliday
Run Thru

A nice set the boys seemed a lot tighter than the last time they came through town, obviously the road has enhanced the live show even more if that is possible. Johnny and Jim really made use of the catwalk coming out in front of the stage, a lot of presence for the both of them. A nice short set, that was only marred by sound problems during the first half of Mahgeeta. I was next to the board and it looked like the house sound guy fucked up the setting just as the boys went on. As a bonus, ATO passed out a sampler disc with a great version of The Way That He Sings from the bowery ballroom...I hope that maybe a live album is in the works somewhere!!!

The new deal was set to hit the stage next but at 2:30 I had had enough...All in all a lot of fun...

hello there....

just thought i'd drop a line and say i thought the jacket were amazing at cmj....it's always good to play with the fellows...especially outside of louisville...it's great t that both bands have worked hard enough to both be asked to play the opening night cmj party...anyhow...to the guy that said we sounded like 80's new wave and industrial ....hmmmm...isn't it amazing what people will call different types of music after only sticking around for one song??? so, quick to judge....sorry you didn't enjoy yourself...we sure did.

peanut butter puddin surprise

That so rocks...I can't remember the last time you guys played Headliner's together.

Ahhhh, the good ol days.  Future tour plans together?  Hmmm....which pole do we have to run that up before it happens?

I would LOVE that.  ;D
