Just recently got into MMJ within the last 6 months and can't say just how much I love their music, but more importantly, been listening to recent shows and it seems every time a get a new one I listen through just to find all the funny things that Jim says , listening to the LebowskiFest one and during Cobra, he says something about the fireworks and how they paid for them and stuff, when really they were for a minor league game down the river! Jim kicks ASS!  anybody else have any great quotes?

How about:
"You people are fuckin' awesome"
              or
"There's a shitload of nails sticking out from this stage--anyone know where I can get a tetanus shot after the show?"

In Atlanta, he mentioned some things about the Simpsons.  I will have to check my recording to quote him exactly.  I do remember: "It's great to be back...here."  Near the beginning of the show, not sure what the pause between back and here was supposed to be about...maybe stoned?
it's a voice. and it's a choice
to call you out. or stay at home

Sal Paradise

I remember this one:

'As mayor of the altered states of druggachussettes, I declare this pizza to be awesome!'

The sound in your mind is the first sound that you could sing

In response to a fan yelling play "Ted Nugent"

JJ said, "Come on.  That's not fair.  We're from Kentucky.  We can't help it that we have long hair and sound the way we do."

toronto:
"it's good to see you again"...."its good"......"to see"....."you"....."again"

and "were gonna sllloww it down a little, everyone remain calm"

How about Jim's connection with Pittsburgh to Karl Malone.  Twice now, and nowhere else, he's dedicated songs to Karl Malone.  When in the Pitts with Conor Oberst, he said he tries to "play music as graceful as Karl Malone playing basketball."  And then it was "Karl Malone...Joe Pesci...this one's for your guys."...or something along those lines.  Why is this bugging me so much?!

Hey John!
I got the poster the other day and left you feedback about it.  Wow, talk about heavy paper--its great really!  Oh yeah--welcome to the board!

At the Theater Romein show in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands on April 16, 2000, 'Tyrone' was introduced as "This is one of my 1987 'Greatest Hits' album ... that was huge in the States. You might recognise this one ... we got a lot of airplay with this one back in the States with this one ... gigantic hit". And later during the show 'Lil Billy' was introduced as "Here's another hit of our 87 compilation".

And at the New World Brewery show in Ybor City, Tampa, FL on March 20, 2002, 'Honest Man' was introduced as "from our 1987 debut album 'Biblical Prophecies'!"

In Nashville, Jim said that every move that the band was going to make had been carefully choreographed, and that they were sending us subliminal messages.

Oz

I don't remember any myself, but damn, reading this thread has made me fall of my chair. That man is brilliant...
I'm ready when you are

Xmas_Curtain

In London he told a story that went something like:

"In the future there'll be no grass...so people will have to build gardens inside their living rooms.  I have an idea...to have a club that looks all normal on the outside but inside there's just this huge park with trees.  No one will be able to find the band but there'll be speakers on all the trees so everyone can hear the music and just walk around and hang out...and if you do actually find the band -- then that's something fuckin awesome"
Oh don't carve me out
Don't let your silly dreams
Fall inbetween
The crack of the bed and the wall

SpliffTastic

That's some funny shit.

The only time I've seen them live was at Bonnaroo and the only thing I remember him saying was the "Return to Thunderdome" line.  I'll have to find some live shows or something.

All this means the man's a genius?

OK
the future is Ginger

MMJ_fanatic

I'm not sure if this qualifies him for genius status ::) but it makes witnessing his skills that much more entertaining :D
