Sure would like to hear details if anyone made it last night, or is going to the others this week.

What are they playing this time out?

i will report in tomorrow.  I am terrible with song names and it does not help that many budweisers will be consumed.  but I shall do my damndest.  maybe I can score a setlist.

t.o.p

BeatTheDiese

i'll be at the dallas show tonight, i'll try and remember all of the songs

How did they introduce the new song?  What did it sound like?
There's Still Time.........

josh

THe opening song was "Oxen".

I really wanted to go to the Houston show but I had no one to go with and I couldn't afford the $15 or $17 they were charging.
blehhhh
I haven't seen them in more than a year.. probably 2 years.  How sad.

Paul

how did centro-matic stack up?

EC

Anyone go to ACL last night?

hellaciousc

saw the MMJ performance at the ACL fest yesterday.
it was incredible.
apparently they were having lots of technical difficulties, but i couldn't tell (except that Jim's acoustic guitar didn't work until the end, so he played the flying V most of the night).

they opened w/ 'one big holiday', which set the momentum right away.   up next was the most rockin version of "lowdown" i've ever heard.  i was blown away.

i just woke up and can't remember what else they played.   mahgeeta i'm pretty sure, and i think cobra made an appearance.

they were really good.

kidsmok_e

I watched the ACL webcast last night, great show, but like hellaciousc mentioned, there were technical difficulties.

I recorded the stream, however it cut out after Mahgeetah, so I didn't get Run Thru, which was the last song of the night. I will be posted a torrent of the show tomorrow. Here's the set:

One Big Holiday
Lowdown
Oxen
It Beats For You
The Way That He Sings
Cobra
Mahgeetah

Encore:
Run Thru

Cool things to note: Both Oxen and It Beats For You are much more developed then they had been in the spring. They are sounding great. Jim did a little dance at the end of It Beats For You as well. Mahgeetah has a new stop-time outro which is pretty cool.

Wow! I'm really excited about getting a new live show thanks for hooking us up.  I wish I had known there was going to be a web cast.  Can I watch it somewhere?  Thanks again Kidsmoke can't wait to hear the new arrangements on it beats for you and oxen!

No problem, glad to help. It sucks that the broadcast cut out during Run Thru though, but what i have is still great. I watched the webcast at this site:
http://launch.yahoo.com/promos/austincitylimits/default.asp#schedule but unfortunatly I don't think that they are archieving the shows.

centro-matic is really great, i know they are friends with mmj, they'd make good touring partners i think.  jim did that little dance in dallas too, it was great

thanks BTD for the setlist, as expected, i remembered just a few.  it was all good stuff.  cool to here just one thing, strangulation, and many others.  i liked lowdown alot.  it had an extended intro as their was a problem with jim's guitar.

jim set up shop stage right, but would come over to the left every now and then.  good show.

p.s. there was a new tshirt with an orange and yellow design.  black shirt.  they had the green on green with the bear, and the black logo one.  i guess the pirate ship one is retired.

thank you, come again.

Ach.  Crap.

Is anyone filthy rich and wants to send a poor artist to see either one of the pro-Kerry tours or the tour with M. Ward?   :-*

Anyone?...  I'll cook you dinner?

maansloep

I saw centro-matic open for Ben Kweller in 2003.  I thought they were pretty decent.  However, the mood was kind of destroyed because they were right before AM Radio and all these stupid teenage girls were impatient, wanting to see Kevin what's-his-face..

so yes.

I too need a suga daddy.
even a suga momma.

BeatTheDiese

yeah ben likes centro so they always open for him here, but they get the bad end of it, like you said opening for am radio= screaming girls that dont care about them, and in the most recent case going on before death cab for cutie (RALPH!!)= same scenario

STAGE RIGHT!  I've seen about 25 shows and only once do I remember Jim setting up stage right, so that is an interesting development.  That was the Rudyard Kipling gig November 10, 2001 and the band had about three minutes to set up as David Amram ran about an hour long and the place was ready to close before the Jacket took stage, so they just rushed out and played.

Here are the photos from that show:
