Down here in Nashville, there was that vicious rumor that MMJ would be playing the Ryman's "10 on the 10th" show this month, an event featuring a "suprise" guest for 10 bucks on the 10th of each month this year to celebrate 10 years since the Ryman was rebuilt.  Well, it turned out to be Rhonda Vincent...hardly MMJ, even though it was some impressive Bluegrass. (Couldn't sell the tix I bought in advance, so I sucked it up and went to the damn thing.)

Well, now an insider at the Ryman has said that MMJ "might" be playing there on December 10th.

Anyone out there that can confirm or vehemently deny?

ok, I may have started the first rumor on this messege board and sadly was wrong................but, I have a strong, strong, feeling that dec. 10th is the day.  when i asked the woman i talked to at the ryman if mmj would be playing in dec she would only say "they are not playing in nov." I responded "ok, but are they playing in dec" long pause........"they're not playing in nov". wink, wink.  I ordered my tickets today, I hope a bunch of us can make it out.  Also if your not sure if you should go, just remember
1. it's only $10
2. they say The Ryman is a "Launching Pad" for vocals, just thinking about Jim singing in this room gives me chills.
3. Jim will probably have some new songs to try out.
4. Dec 10th is a friday
5. your alive

Then again mabey it's not them and the Ryman staff is just being sneaky in order to sell more tickets.

just saw ryan adams at the ryman on saturday... it's a great venue.  if you do go i'd recommend getting there early to check out some of the cool memoribilia they have lying around.

as for mmj playing... i've heard the same rumor.  supposedly the tennesseean ran some ads before the shows went on sale that had pictures of the bands playing with their faces and names blacked out, and the decemeber gig looked like the jacket.  that's according to some friends in nashville.  i bought tickets for the show a while ago... hopefully this is all true.  the ryman has been posting the ads for who is playin on their webpage a few days before the show... all the pictures are of course still blacked out.

i'm planning on heading down from louisville to check it out right now.  of course, ask me on dec 9th and i might have changed my mind. :o)

Oh god, but wouldn't it be horrible if you went and it wasn't them?  The disappointment would be too much.

ah, the unconfirmed confirmed unconfirmed shows.

folks, if it ain't here, it ain't happening.  at 3:25 today, the words "No shows scheduled at this time" were on the shows page.  this, by all past experiences, leads me to believe there's no shows scheduled.

not that there COULDN'T be a show next month (by all means!) and not to discount what the venue and/or promoter are saying, but it's not on here so I wouldn't anticipate it.  just my 2 cents.

I'd be willing to bet that if MMJ was playing the show that they would have had to sign an agrement not to advertise it.  If the bands playing posted it on thier web site it wouldn't keep it much of a secret, and trust me they are very serious about keeping it a secret, when I thought they were playing in November I called several times and talked to several different people (giving them several different reasons why it was imperitive I know who was playing) and not one of them would give me even the slightest hint.  I'm almost positive they are scheduled for December, to many things are coming together for it not to be them.  My first source even said from the begining that it may have been Dec. and not Nov.  Now we just need to know what taper can make it to the show.  If you're out there and know how to tape, I'll buy your ticket.  If you can't make it I'd be willing to borrow your equipment and tape the show for you.

welp, alrighty then.  i can't ever recall any "secret" or "surprise" shows, but y'all are gonna believe what you believe.  i'm just sayin' so that folks don't go through what I go through to schedule time off, arrange for hotel rooms, buy tickets, etc. and not see MMJ.  if they're playin', that's great.  i just wouldn't expect it because it's not here, secret or not.
