For all of us sorry souls that didn't get a chance to attend the Bonnaroo festivities:

How was it? How did the Jacket sound? Bigger or smaller crowd than last year for the Jacket? Was it a greatest hits show, or was there some raritites thrown in?

Thanks.

The show was fantastic!  The coolest/strangest aspect was that slowly 12 foot tall puppets joined them onstage (along with the conductor)during the numbers and danced their assess off for the whole show....one was a George Washington type figure, a giraffe, an aztec god, a rastafarian woman,a cyclops, and one i dont remember.  The setlist had lots of new tunes thrown in that were all great.  Otherwise, pretty standard fare with a cool solo bermuda highyway thrown in. The new stuff rocked though. The show was not as big as last year but they were scheduled against Rat Dog and John Butler...not to mention people had started leaving the festival early sunday morning due to all the rain.  All in all a great show.

Would love to see the whole setlist if anyone's got it.  I think it was when the first puppet character came out on stage that they played "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You"...it was fantastic

Highlights

-Tour Bus Honking as it strolled into the stage area about 2 min before they were scheduled to play.

-4 min. later Jim walks out onto the stage holding a big red heart and I smiled.

-Lying on the ground in the middle of Tennessee staring up at the sky while the solo in Dan Dante was gracing me with it's beauty.

-12 Foot tall puppets rocking just as hard as the band.  It was truly something to see!!!!!!! (I can't believe no one got hurt.)

-The Prince Cover was great so was the Dylan.

-Mahgettah ended the show and after that last note I turned and walked the entire 35min trip back to my car with a big ass grin on my face, headed back to Knoxville.

Those puppets were the Squallis Puppeteers from Louisville. www.squallispuppeteers.com/hireus.html .Tundra had told a few of us about them surprising the crowd at Bonnaroo.I think he know someone who performs with them. They are very strange but also pretty cool. They were also at the Lebowski Fest last year.

MMJ put on the best show this year, next only to DMB (I don't care who hates me for it, I think DMB put on the best show this year at Bonnaroo). My buddy and I stood ankle deep in piss and mud for 2 or 3 hours to nudge our way up as close as possible... I could have come to Bonnaroo and only gotten to see MMJ and I'd be perfectly happy... awesome show.

The puppets were pretty awesome, too. I was really hoping that the cockroach would stage-dive, though.
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

can anybody post the entire set?

I went to the front after Iron and Wine, didn't see anyone.  I didn't get your message until after M. Wards set,  I went to Kings Of Leon.  Tried to call but no answer.  I tried to see if I could see you at MMJ but to no avail.

That sucks.  I thought we were meeting at the soundboard, so that's where I went, and met with Monsieur eisey.

Aaaahhhhhhh Bonnaroo.  So hard to keep track of your pals.  I will email you when I get home.

Wasn't Iron and Wine FUCKING AWESOME?

I got to the very front row somehow by getting there early before Umphrey's McGee and sliding to the front at the end of their set.  The crowd was seemed awefully quiet before they started.  The puppet not mentioned was a giant roach of some sort.  Overall they were my favorite performance although I'd have to say Trey was the funnest for me.  I tried to get the MMJ set list after the show but the security guy gave it to the girl next to me.  He had another one that I politely asked for but he said he wanted to make some money.  I hope they edit me out if they come out with a live cd for that performance, at one point of silence I tried to yell out "You rock" as loud as I could and my voice cracked like a schoolboy going through puberty.  Very embarrasing.  :-[
