Four words: Make It With You (by Bread).

Amazing show tonight.  We got 'I Think I'm Going to Hell' too.  I haven't heard that in YEARS.  They played every song off of Z (except 'Into the Woods') - a few off ISM ('Run Thru', 'Mahgeetah', 'Golden', '1 bIG hOLIDAY') and 'The Way That He Sings' from AD.

Opened in the pitch black with 'Wordless Chorus'.  All we could see was ten pairs of owl eyes glowing in the dark.  When the wordless chorus started, purple strobes shined behind the stage - cool as hell experience.

I'll write more in a bit.  Enjoy the teaser.

And the Bread cover was delicious.  Absolutely delicious.

Sweet...i'm on my toes for tomorrow night ;D

'Lay Low' was another highlight.  Jim sang the first portion sans guitar, holding the microphone - then the guitar tech handed him the flying v and the song ended with a goddam boom - I have a newfound LOVE for that song.  Those dueling guitars are so damn perfect that they kill me.

'Dondante' was as epic as Athens in June, although moreso now that I know the lyrics and the story.

I love the Omnichord on 'Sooner.'

Closer was a loud, rocking version of 'Anytime'.

Bo's harmonizing was more prevalent than ever - I think I've seen the new lineup 6 times now, and this was by far the most cohesive they've ever been.

Tonight's show is more further proof that, as Letterman says, "There is no 'off' position for the genius switch."

For a second there I thought they were going to play the entire album straight through.  They opened with "Wordless Chorus" then came "It Beats For You" then as the drum and bass outro came in for "It Beats For You" Jim disapeared and you hear the opening keyboard part of "Gideon" and out comes Jim with an electric guitar and they procede to just kill that one, plus a light show that would make Pink Floyd proud.  Instead of "A Wonderfull Man" next, you hear the symble intro for "One Big Holliday" and the crowd went nuts.  I'm not a huge fan of the Roxy but they have an awesome light rig.  Minton pretty much said everything I was going to mention.  I've never seen anything like Worless Chorus live, it's a whole new ball game. :o

great show, though i really wish they'd kicked it off in athens. i mean, come on, after the reception we gave them. still, 'make it with you', 'i think i'm going to hell', 'lay low', 'don dante', and 'sooner' made the trip more than worthwhile.

tx for getting the seed out so fast.

way to go sweatboard.  We really should have sent you to London!

So is the light show MMJ's or is the venues?

QuoteSo is the light show MMJ's or is the venues?
Probably a mix of both...  I doubt if the venue had owl eyes... ;)  They might've brought their own gels or goblos...
But my guess is that there isn't enough time each time to replot the lighting grid.

But I could be wrong...
