yo, yea man, parking on south street can be a head ache during the weekend, but on a wed night shouldn't be too bad...tla is around 5th i think? (don't quote me on that) so start looking(for parking) around 9th st...it's a nice walk...free parking after 9PM so you only have to pay the meeter till 9PM...you shouldn't sweat the parking, never really had problems with it...i've never been to a show were the sound was shitty at the tla, i really like this venue...my favorite place to stand is right by the band..especially with mmj...i know i'll be up front.

BIGVICLBI

storm, are you a fellow rugger?

storm_is_coming

big, yea i am!! you too??

jamiebear

is the show on fri really just jim james acoustic???
am i not gonna be able to see all of mmj if i dont go tonight???
man-was takin my sis for her first show too ???

storm_is_coming

no jamie, i'm almost positive it is mmj the full band both nights...they would have advertised it, and still would have it posted as Jim james solo, it wouldn't even make sense for him to do that...they just came out with a new album..

jamiebear

thanks! not that i don't look forward to nay jim james solo i can hear.....i just wanted my sister to see the whole band as i ahve seen them so many times-i am so excited to share it with her! ;D

Solid show last night.  Everything off of Z except "Into the Woods" and "Knot comes Loose"...all other songs were off of It Still Moves.  From what I remember:  Magheta, Golden, One Big Holiday, I will Sing you SOngs, Run Thru, Rollin Back, Steam Engine.

Surprised they didn't get into TTF or At Dawn at all.  Maybe Friday, lets hope.

Show rocked, though...

Was it just me and my two friends or was the sound (especially Jims vocals) crap last night at TLA?
That room just seems to get worse acoustics as time goes on.

That said, the show rocked but I'm not sure if half the crowd "got it". Everyone in the balcony especially did nothing but talk thru the entire show.
mind the gap, mind your head,
mind the things your mama said... - the soundtrack of our lives

Coltrane

I agree PatricSaint. Most people didn't "get it." But they probably just don't feel it the way we do. I mean, most people I saw were rockin' out, but not many of them were as mezmerized as me and my wife. The music is so much more than just good music to us. In fact, on the way home, we were trying to express our feelings about the band and just ended up in near tear silence.

We were up front, though . Center stage, second from the front. So we were totally engaged the entire time. And we thought it sounded great! So, maybe where you were standing just sounded bad.

If you're coming on Friday night, just look for the beautiful girl with the long black hair and a big ol' nerd wearing a Silver Jews shirt and we'll form a pocket of Jacket Love that cannot be penetrated by assholes!!!!
....as mayor of Drugachusettes, I declare this pizza to be...AWESOME!!!

Coltrane

oh, I forgot to say that "wordless Chorus" was fucking amazing!!! The way Jim was standing and moving with the mic reminded me of Otis Redding.....he was feeling it so much!!! And during "Lay Low," I was moved sooooo much that I almost picked up my wife off the ground without even realizing it
!!!!!

I cannot wait until Friday! Viva La Jacket!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100% of what you just said.  Where I was, center stage between Jim and Tommy about 3 rows back, Jim's voice sounded muffeled and muddy.  I attributed it to that I was listening off his monitor and not the house speakers...I may move back a little bit for the friday night show.

But, yeah, the crowd was kinda lame...I only saw a few rocking out really hard (especially the taller skinny kid with the long shag hair that was to my left)...I try not to let the other people that were just standing there get me too worked up...afterall, its all about my enjoyment.

I agree that the sound wasn't too hot...I want to stand a little further back on Friday, maybe let it "reach us" a little better. I couldn't hear a damn thing Jim was saying :\

After seeing jim and the band a few times I have realized up front is NOT the place to be. I stood in the back of the bottom section thru Golden then moved upstairs to the balcony. The sound was 10x better up there, but people were talking nonstop and I almost flipped out but thought better of it(I'm about 6' 275 with a beard and bald head so me yelling at girls probably isn't a good idea.) Even below the sound was way off for the first couple of songs but got better. There were some people rocking out a little near me, but I would love to go somewhere like Louisville where the whole crowd would be busting everything up. Run Thru was freaking holy awesome, the whole show pretty much rocked. I was with a friend who was a newbie and he thought they were pretty good. Didn't think that Kathleen Edwards really added anything to Golden. Kudos to the guy in the white hoodie in the center, that dude was bouncin up and down the whole time.

Great show last night.  Hadn't originally planned on going, but a friend called at 6 with an extra ticket; and at that point, how could I say no?

I only have Tennesse Fire, Chocolate & Ice, the Christmas EP and It Still Moves.  I've been meaning to get At Dawn for some time now and will definitely have to get Z.

Being most familiar with the stuff from It Still Moves, those were the highlights of the show for me.

I thought that Kathleen Edwards was great too.

Overall a fantastic evening of music, and I'm really hoping someone taped it!
