Well, I'll not speak too much on changing the setlist up, because I think alot of people know how I feel about from The Portland Show post.  I think it's important to remember that a concert is not JUST for the band. THere is an audience there too. THey are fans who pay money to see the show.  When you have fans they travel to catch 2 or 3 shows per tour, that's something special.  THe band should realize this a bit more. Of course, after to Portland Show thread started they played the SD show, which had a mind-boggling setlist, very diffrent from almost every other show on tour.  Maybe the bands been checkin' out the boards, and wanted to show me wrong.
That being said, the length of the shows are perfect.  2 hour shows are just the right length I feel.  Some bands come out, play an hour set, then do a 1 song encore.  BORING! But not our boys.  I think the problem here is a trickle down effect from the 'jam band' connection some people have made.  Sure, I saw Phish a few times, and they played for 3-4 hours. But if you look at setlists, MMJ playes more songs per show then Phish did. Phish just stretched the songs out to 10-20 minutes. THat's not MMJ's thing. THey jam on stage on occation, but they are not trying to bend your mind musicly, they are trying to melt your face with the RAWK!!!!
Despite my setlist complaint I still feel MMJ is the best live show to see right now, period.  10 years from now, I hope to be saying the same thing!  ;D
