Everyone always attributes everything great about the band to Jim, and don't get me wrong Jim is a great songwriter/muusician, but the rest of the band gets little attention around here (cep' fir Pat, cause he has his own little fans 'round here). I'm here to say that Carl is a great lead guitarist... Jim can write songs and play good rhythm, but Carl has great lead and especially on songs like wordless chorus... THAT'S A GREAT LICK, somewhat reminiscent of something Steve Howe would play... Anyways I'm here, writing this, to show that I feel that Carl deserves way more attention than he gets, without him, Z wouldn't have happened... Thankyou Carl.... Oh also, Gideon is the epitome of the best song ever...

That is because Carl is from INDY and he went to IU!

The whole band kills. Tommy's bass lines on "It Beats for U" are great" Bo's comping on "Wordless Chorus" and solo on "It Beats for U" Carl's pedal steel playing. The list goes on and on. And this is just talkin about the songs on "Z". The songs/writing are obviously great by themselves but the hugeness of the sound comes from the band. What i love about this band is how they keep getting better and better. If you listen to the four records in chronological order it is amazing to hear the growth. Everything was there from the start but somehow it has grown into this huge sonic thing that is very special and exciting.

Right on, good post! This whole band functions as one organism, it simply would not be the same without each and every one....

So, some fun with the band~  ;D

Jim ~ The soul - he is the dreamer
Patrick~ The heart - he keeps it pumpin'
Tommy ~ The sinewy spine - he lets in bend but never break
Carl ~ The muscle - he rocks it out big time
Bo ~ the Tastebuds - cause he adds the delicious flava!

Other ideas?
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.

Great post Jacketgirl - I love that!  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

actually, it's all about Brucee   AKA  Slayer

Hey Tracy, I was just thinking about you and wondering where you had gone.  Then, I opened this thread and saw your profound post.  If it wasn't for Brucee they would be playing out of tune guitars and wouldn't know what the set list was, they would get thrirsty and die of dehydration.  Also, I know he can fucking shread on guitar.  I've heard him play and that man smokes.  I fucking love that guy, he is always so nice and personable and he really doesn't get the notice he deserves.  I think we can all agree that Brucee was a sweet ass choice for guitar tech, roadie, set list hooker upper, security guard, etc. etc.  Got to love Brucee. :-*

that's brucee. We first met him when he shoved the monkey boy off the stage after the Sloss show.

corey

Yeah, but Drunkre was at least working the crowd up with his lipsynch of  "The Flame".
Brucie seems very much like one of those guys that gets in a zone and doesn't let anything stand in the way of him doing his job. You gotta respect somebody with that much commitment.

thanks for letting me know.  i think this is a good example of not judging a book by its cover.  from the 5 1/2 times ive seen the jacket, brucee hasnt had the friendliest aura or happiest face, but im glad to know its a sort of tough guy image.   ;D

no, not Drunkre (I remember him being told to get off the stage). After the show, there was some weirdness going on and there was a strange monkey like guy who looked to be a bit strung out. He wondered up on stage and Brucee shoved him off and the guy went F L Y I N G... bizarre....I think it's on another thread some where.

corey

Oh, shit! I DO remember that. He was trying to get a setlist and got WHACKED.  :)

yeah, like corey said, i think it's because he's in the zone.  that dude gets shit done.

but truly, he's a softie.  just don't tell anybody.  don't want to ruin his "rep". ;)

JacketGal

This guy, Bruce has given me a couple of set lists to date. I never knew his name or anything but always thought he was one cool dude. He watches everything, knows exactly what's going on....(where's the thumbs up smiley?)  8)
