I'd rather that he didn't.

That Oberst kid gets on my nerves. Big time.

If JIm does anything else solo after the next MMJ tour, I'd prefer that it be by himself.... or with anyone other than that Bright Eyes fella.

Just my $.02

I agree.  I'd love to see Jim solo though.  Even it means having to get through a Oberst set.

Add Andrew Bird to that & GawdDAMN!  & Bring Bo to play them stellar keys.  :)
That would be wicked to see them all (the bands)  tour  together sometime.

olwiggum... thanks for saying what i couldn't! i'm sick of that sensitive-boy-with-hair-across-his-forehead-wearing-an-ironic-western-shirt-and-complaining deal! gimme balls out rawk!
everything sucks. really.

Conor's got his heart in the right place.  Even if you don't want to listen to his music all the time, I think he deserves some props.  He's been making music since he was, what, 13 years old?  His songwriting has obviously grown a lot..from the more bedroom confessional type songs to dealing with more universal themes.  I'd be all about that tour.  I never saw the first one.

wellfleet

universal themes as set forth by a 24 year-old... not that there aren't plenty of insightful twentysomethings, but come on! but it's ok if you like it, no judgment here, just love... lots and lots of love...
everything sucks. really.

i think jim and andrew bird and m. and conor would be amazing. i'm not huge on conor, but it seems like all the guys really enjoy eachother. man, just imagine andrew on that bill, he could add some killer violin to some mmj stuff. ohhhh man.
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

Dee.

Well, yeah, 'more' universal.  I just mean, like, leaving the bedroom and going outside for a stroll.  :)

Ben Lee was on the Beastie Boys label when he was that age. I like him, not as much as I used to, but way more than Bright Eyes.

Yeah, Bright Eyes annoys me too. I went to his show here at The Brown in Louisville last month. Feist opened, She ruled. He was a bore. I should have left after Feist.

I'd like to see a different trio of solo performers, Jim James, Ben Nichols (of Lucero) and Cory Branan from Memphis.

Easy Morning Rebel

Yeah, I agree. Bright Eyes started going on my nerves too. I don't like this Oberst anymore. He'd been too commercial, or what to say?! and he's also not as much good anymore. :-/

Even cowgirls get the blues

kevinjanes

It's not so much that he's too commercial. He's anti-commercial actually and refuses to allow Clear Channel radio stations to play his music or book his shows in their venues. He won't sell songs to advertisers or anything like that. So, apart from public, college and internet radio, you can't hear him anywhere. But he's huge with the teenagers. He seriously like an indie teen-idol. No different from Justin Timberlake in that respect, except that he writes decent songs and doesn't dance. But the young girls swoon over him no less. I got tired of hearing this 14 year old behind me at the show exclaiming how much she wished she could have Conner's babies. Pathetic really.

Specialist

I'd be all for this tour.

as for Bright Eyes. I could see how alot of people wouldn't like Conor, but i dig it. Being in highschool, i got sick of hearing all the 14-15 year olds say "Oh MY God did you say Bright Eyes? They are like so totally my favorite band." And at the first Bright Eyes show i attended, two girls behind me said "Who is Conor Oberst?"  For the most part, the trendy teens have dropped Bright Eyes for the latest "it" band.
Hold my life until I'm ready to use it

kevinjanes

Don't get me wrong, I think it's awsome when young teenagers like great music, but the ones who are disrespectful to the musicians and bastardize the art by drooling and shouting sexual explitives are just, well, lame. It's just uncalled for. I'm sure I can name a few female musicians if, given to lust, I would fantasize about impregnating, but keep it to yourself people! I know, I know, I'm showing my age, but I don't recall me or anyone else I know being that way when we were 16 going to shows, and that was only 10 years ago. Has the world changed that much since I crawled under my rock?

wellfleet

well, i appreciate mmj's music on a cerebral level as much as anyone, but there's just no denying the boys are total babes!  :-* :-*
i'm throwing my panties on stage next time...

(ugh, no, not really!)
everything sucks. really.

kevinjanes

Wait 'til they share the bill with Tom Jones before you go losing your skimmies. I heard that the women at his shows are all about flinging their drawers on stage.  :o

TOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm throwing my virtual panties at you right now...

Dee.

TJ!  :)

I've seen two Bright Eyes shows and I can't say they've done much for me.  The first one, in fact, I left early because I wasn't feeling it.  Something about the band's lack of energy and the obsessive crowd put me off.  I've heard girls scream that they want to have Conor's babies, too.  That's always an awkward moment.  Seeing him with Matt & Jim might be cooler in some respects, so I'd definitely give him another chance.

If I had the option, though, I'd choose Andrew Bird.  I've seen him twice too, and both times were just really, really nice.
