5 SMILEY FACES!!!!!!

Well what did you expect?  You are the one that got to go to the show.   To feel the warm thrill of confusion, that space cadet glow!

And I want MMJ and PJ.  Please include the kick ass cover song that they do together during the ancore!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Okay.  Holy crap.

This is from my memory and it's not in the right order.

One Big Holiday
Mahgeetah
Gideon
Wordless Chorus
Anytime
The Way That He Sings
Wonderful Man
Golden

I think that's it...  They were awesome.  The sound was actually way better than I would have thought.  I could hear everybody's instruments clearly, which was very very cool.

The god damn rockin' in the free world cover was crazy fun.  Jim and Patrick and Carl came on stage with tambourines, and sang.  It was pretty fun.

It was a great night.  Now I need to prepare to do it again. :)
I'll talk about PJ later.  That was some intensity, holy shit.

NICE!
how did the crowd respond to them?  how many people were in thier seats by the time they came on?
but i done went and plum forgot it

corey

I somehow get the feeling that she either

a) went back to sleep
b) went back to work

I've been on the board all morning anticipating the setlist and I never saw her name at the bottom, so she was apparently only on long enough to post the set.

She may be at the doctor getting her face sewn back on 'cause it sounds like she had it melted off last night.

EC

hahahaha.  No, I had to talk to my roommate who played a show last night to five people and wasn't feelin' too happy about it.  I explained that possibly everybody was at the Air Canada Centre seeing MMJ and PJ, but I don't think it made her feel too better. :(

Crowd was really into MMJ.  It was about hmmm 30 or 40% when they started, and got fuller and fuller.  I was sitting near Daniel Lanois (!!!) and he was INTO it.  Big time.  They really rocked.  It was scary in there.  Like, at one point, me and my brother just looked around at everything (people, lights) and we were like "holy shit.  i'd be scared."  But they were awesome.  I mean, of course they were awesome, they're never not awesome, even when there're sound issues and stuff.  (Which there weren't, except for one tone that could've been feedback every once in a while, but it happened for PJ, too).

People were singin' to the songs.  It was a very very fun time.  Seriously, though, I need to get some fucking ear plugs or my head will explode tonight.

At least then it will match my face.  ;)

PJ:
I'm not really sure that I could say anything you guys wouldn't already know.  I remember seeing them when 10 first came out.  It's not that different.  They've still got the same intensity and energy and they still get into their songs and have fun.  EV takes "breaks" during instrumental parts to go and smoke and drink wine.  haha.  That's pretty fun.  My brother and I were at the side where he took his microbreaks, and he's all "That's fucking awesome."

I mean they do totally rock.  They're really tight and they sound good and they REALLY seem to make sure all the fans are taken care of.  They look all over the place so that people feel like they saw them, Mike McC was TEARING around the stage.  EV jumped on one of the big speakers at one point, and it looked very rock and roll.  The crowd were singing along, and I haven't heard a sound like what came from that cheering... possibly ever in my life.  Bonnaroo kids went crazy, but there wasn't a ceiling there.  It was an intense energy.

I liked PJ a lot.  You feel like they're just some dudes who try to do the best they can to keep everything out of the stupid realm (ie ego and iconoclastic) and they can play good and they have some serious rock songs that people can freak out to.  It was fun.  I would say that would be the word of the night: fun.  Everybody had fun.  That's awesome.  That's a lot of people all having fun together.

There was a fucking lot of weed.  The ACC was a hotbox.  No shit.

what time did they take the stage?

what time did they take the stage?

MMJ started at 7:30, and PJ started around 8:45 and went until 11:15 - they had two encores.  When RITFW was played, the lights in the whole stadium were on, so it kind of felt like everybody was rockin' out in your friend's basement or something.

If your friend was a sultan.

And I know you guys love stuff like this, so the boys were totally rockin' out and running around stage, and Jim kept hitting PJ members with his tambourine.  At one point he hit EV in the head.  Which EV seemed to like.  :)

The god damn organ that they use is AWESOME.  Holy crap.  That is some exciting shit.

AWESOME!!! Thanks for those posts EC. Glad you had a great time!  And you get to do it all over again TONIGHT!  :D

A few more weeks and that's going to be us bro.  Meg's got me really excited.  If they are already doing Rocking In The Free World with them they'll surely have some new covers worked out together by the time they get to East Rutherford.  ;D
There's Still Time.........

EC gets the rock star award! Gets to see the Jacket 2x within a month, spanning 650 miles and sitting near Daniel Lanois (wonder what a Jacket album would sound like with him????)

Great review, I was there with you all the way; you and your bro on the side, me looking around in the crowd for people older than me...

Fantastic! You have a great life!
