That show was the most amazing musical experience of my entire life!  Wow.  There is no way I could ever forget this performance.

It was my first MMJ show, and there will definitely be many more to come.  The energy from the band was absolutely incredible and the live sound was better than I ever could have imagined.  What a damn incredible voice!

The crowd near the front of the stage was wild.  It might have something to do with the festival atmosphere, but it seemed like everyone was completely enraptured by the music.  The entire show kicked ass, but if I had to pick a favorite song for the show it would have to be dondante.   The intensity at the climax of a few songs was almost unbearable, in a good way of course.  I knew MMJ would put on a great show, but this one soared above my highest expectations.

I just got home from the 'Roo and...

This was my 6th Jacket show in the past year, starting with when they opened for Wilco last June.  I saw two of their best shows (Cincy, Fall '05 and Louisville, Thanksgiving Eve '05).  This was my first Bonnaroo and I basically went to see the Jacket because I had a feeling it would be an epic performance.

I can honestly say that on Friday I started feeling that everything in my life had been leading up to this show.  Friday I saw Andrew Bird, Seu Jorge, Bright Eyes, and Death Cab.  The Jacket made them look like high school acts.

Friday night in anticipation of the Jacket I had to consume a little Kentucky bourbon in honor of the boys.  I made my friends get to the tent almost an hour early and weasled my way as close as possible.  At 11:55 PM I  truly got nervous and anxious beyond belief as if I was performing!

When the lights went down and Jim led the boys out with a lantern to "When I Wish Upon A Star" I knew I was about to witness maybe the greatest Jacket show ever!  As Jim belted out the first line to Wordless Chorus hundreds (and I really mean hundreds) of glow sticks rained from the sides and back of the tent (I assume planned by the boys or Bonnaroo).  This was so surreal that I was shocked to near unconsciousness and couldn't move until I was brought back to life with the One Big Holiday riff.  From that moment on I sang, danced, headbanged, and rocked my body to pain until the last note on Run Thru.

I really can't describe this experience, but it was a defining moment in my life and I believe for the band.  They won over countless new fans and word quickly spread through Bonnaroo about their performance.  As great as a band that Radiohead is, MMJ blew them away (at least in my opinion).  I have never seen the boys play with as much enegry as they did (which is saying a lot as they always bring 150%).

For anyone who was there I was the guy near the front with the green shirt acting like I was having a religous experience.  I lobbyed countless times for "Steam Engine" and "Cobra" to no avail.  But there are no complaints here...as I had to witness one of the top 3 Jacket shows of ALL TIME!!  I am already waiting with anticipation for next year's performance!!  Long Live The JACKET!!

d00d it wuz soooooo gewd. they played ne-time. it rawked.

for serious, my neck is dead. i'm calling in sick tomorrow and blaming it on my morning jacket.

that show kicked 20 different kinds of ass, not to mention the old favorites like the bear, ev-o-lyn, it's about twilight now, the fucking DARK! and lowdown and i will sing you songs and basically eveyrthing off z but into the woods and knot comes loose. and even EASY FUCKING MORNING REBEL!!! they had this kick ass medley goin on and then right in smack middle i recognize that infamous middle riff and fucking screamed. the trendy bastards around me had no idea why i was screaming but i just proceded to whip off my shirt and pour sweat all over their non-jacket-fanatacizing selves. good lord, i lost it at that show. man alive, if anyone was watching the blue room stuff, i was the one completely losing my shit on the left side of the stage against the rail. i just realized the entire world could potentially see my shirtless and ridiculous.

i'm gonna go check this out...

holy crap. and dondante. ho. lee. crap.

Alright, this was the first time that I've ever actually seen them live. The first time I heard them was a few months ago on Austin City Limits. I just flipped to the channel to see who was playing - it was them - and I couldn't turn the channel until it was over. Needless to say I made it priority #1 to see them at the 'Roo, and it was the most incredible experience I had this year. I can't believe, nor know how, I've missed out on them in the past, but rest assured it will never happen again. I've downloaded the video that was posted here, and have to admit that certain points bring tears to my eyes remembering how incredibly awesome it all was.

I do believe I've found my new favorite band.

ROCK ON!

I wasn't there, I just watched the webscast.  However, I got tears in my eyes reliving the webcast of this concert, I can't imagine how awesome it was to be there.  I just became a fan myself in the last couple of years and saw them for the first time in November.  They are definitely the best kept secret out there.  Welcome!!!!
