So I have been a fan of The Slip for quite a long time. It is through their musical community that I was turned on to My Morning Jacket about 2 years ago.

I just wanted to let people know that if they have been attending the past shows and were really turned on by what they were hearing, the slip have been around for ten years making a range of honest people music.

I run a website http://www.theslipstream.org a live audio streaming server that plays full shows from over the years. Signing up to become a member is free of course and you then have the ability to make realtime requests to be played after the current song.

I hope people show up early to check out this great band.

Thanks everyone

I thought they were pretty great.  Not MMJ-great, but I had a good time.

I'm going to see The Slip at The El Mocambo in Toronto on December 9th. It'll be my first Slip show and they couldn't have picked a better venue. The place has tons of rock history attached to it. I don't know The Slip at all but they have a growing fanatical following in Canada.

By a curious coincidence the Barr brothers also recently moved to Canada.  Maybe that helps?

I can't compare The Slip and My Morning Jacket as they are completely different bands, but I love them both.  It is great to see this collaboration as well as with the Duo and I wished like hell I could get out of work in time to hit Philly.

As I've learned, you have to work tix early and often as MMJ is selling out shows like hotcakes with maple syrup.  But there were some lucky few who landed extras at the venue and some friends who were MMJ virgins are completely awe-struck and will never be the same.

Yeah, the second night crowd was more snoozers, but not within 30 feet of the stage!  We rocked as hard as we could sandwiched in like peanut butter and jelly.  Those lights are indelibly etched in my retinae, and the experience is etched in my sould.  Fantastic double-header and I can't wait for the next shows.

I'd like to collectively thank those up front and in the balconies who gave me space to take some pro shots for The Slip's set.  I took some "non-pro" shots of MMJ (which were allowed at the venue without a permit).  I'll post these in a day or two.  Anyone else get some good shots?  I saw a lot of cell phones up in the air!

-Peace y'all,

They moved to Montreal. A great city for anyone to set up shop.

One reason for their growing presence north of the border can be attributed to the praise and press my friends down at Jambands.ca constantly heap on them - not to be confused with Jambands.com. There are three or four new stories on The Slip currently active on the Jambands.ca website.

I have been a fan of the slip for a long while now...actually before MMJ.  I have always wanted to see them live, but shit always came up that prevented me from making a show.  I was pumped when i saw they were opening for MMJ, but being the idiot that I am, I waited too long to get tickets and now the show is sold out.  Fuck!   :P

Dan

i suggest if you are in the area at least to go 1hr to 1/2hr before show time because sometimes they have some extras...

I just picked up Eisenhower and it  is a damn good album. I'm really glad I got to see The Slip.

another note: How can anyone not have 'Even Rats' stuck in their heads after hearing it once.....that whole "woooah woooah woohaow" part...

Dan

after hearing it so many times i think it is permanently etched in the fabric of my mind.

you check out the stream?

ChiefOKONO

i liked them but they had kind of "the same" sound to a lot of their songs. i liked one of their ballads a lot and that airplane song.

oh yeah and the bass player was Way too loud!!!

I'm actually listening to Eisenhower right now.

I got totally hooked on Even Rats after listening to it on their MySpace page a few weeks ago.  I went there because I was interested in hearing them since I knew I'd be seeing them open for MMJ.  Even Rats is a great song.

Dan

Hopefully people were not ignorant  ;D and decided to show up and catch the slip.

Thanks for this.    I got there early and caught the set from up close and really loved them so this is a treat.  I knew nothing of them till this show, they have two new fans, my wife and I.
