Caz

Hello there   :)

I've just started getting into MMJ after seeing them on tour with Pearl Jam.

I got It Still Moves and love it. Just looking for advice on which album would be best to get next?

I liked them a lot when I saw them perform, despite being desperate for PJ to come on! I also saw Wolfmother supporting PJ this tour, and didn't rate them much (although I haven't heard any of their recorded stuff so can't judge properly). So I was really pleased to get such a great supporting act the next show I was at   ;D

So any help much appreciated! Thanks,

Caz

Welcome to the realm of Jacketry.

My advice would be to pick up Okonokos. From there, either Z or Tennessee Fire. Keep in mind this band seems to embody something new with every album... Tennessee Fire is like indie-rock meets country, it's very raw. Z is whatever the opposite of that is... At Dawn is somewhere in between.

All are great albums, so you could just go with whatever album art is coolest.

I'd recommend getting Z next and then Okonokos.

then, At Dawn and Tennessee Fire

BH

If you like It Still Moves, I would recommend going with At Dawn next and then when your are completely in love with those two album, get Z.

Z is such a departure, I think fully emersing yourself in the early stuff, including TN Fire, is best before you get completely floored by the power of Z.  Just my opinion and either way you can't go wrong.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Jellyfish

Just get them all.....lol...I did. ;)

Welcome. :)

Hi Caz, nice to meet you.
I'd recommend getting At Dawn next, but Jellyfish is right - you'll want them all soon enough  :D

dragonboy

Hey Caz, welcome aboard  :)
I would go with At Dawn or Z but like Jellyfish says, you'll want them all in the end.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Loaded_Question

Of all the bands to buy a CD from without really knowing their body of work, you stumbled upon a great one here. You will be addicted soon enough.

Caz

Thanks for all the greetings and the advice! I will be making my decision and heading out to buy my next MMJ album shortly :)

Am looking forward to lots of dancing around my room to MMJ in the future... What? Don't pretend you don't dance around the place when no one's around 8)

I played a mean air-guitar along to Mahgeetah earlier this afternoon, sometimes these things need to be done!

he he, I'm glad to there is no shame among MMJ fans about secret bedroom dancing ;D

Bathroom and kitchen dancing are also highly valued in my culture.

Welcome. :)

And I double quote - If you really love them, just go out there and get them all - that's what I did!

And can I say I am new also, I saw/heard them for the very first time this past May at the United Center.  I was not desperate for PJ to come on, but by the time MMJ ended, I was DESPERATE for them to STAY on!  So I've waited until Thanksgiving to get my fix here in Chicago and then Indy.

The people on these boards are thee nicest!  Actually, I don't know why I got into these, but my last experience on the Days of the New (yeah, I know! everyone here hates Travis, but whatever!) boards was AWFUL!  Those people were down right NASTY!  They were constantly fighting and saying all kinds of nasty things - I just try to keep a sense of humor, I mean, C'MON! Life is TOO SHORT, people!  Plus, you might not even know who the heck you're writing these nasty things about!  After I got blasted by some a-hole, I emailed the moderator and asked to be removed.  Hasta-la-veesta, bay-bay!   :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* my arse!
other times I can barely see

Just get "At Dawn" and proclaim it the best album you have ever heard in your life.  Then the rest will follow..........Cobra!!!
